PRP: First of all, who's in the band, and what's his part on it?
Jeremy: Okay, we have me (Jeremy), Dan, Justin, and Cory. Cory plays bass, Dan does vocals and guitars, Justin is the drummer and I do vocals and guitars as well.
PRP: How long have you been playing together as a band?
Jeremy: We've been playing together roughly two years, as a band that is, we did stuff before we all got together, actually before we got Dan in the band.
PRP: And, in these 2 years, were you able to release any material?
Jeremy: Not really. We went into the studio, but it all sucked, and nothing could be used. We have been recording a little demo on our own, but mostly all anyone has heard was from the website.
PRP: And the mp3 of Unkynd, right? since it's not in the website at all.
Jeremy: Yeah, we did Unkynd on our own, in my basement actually. It's not bad.... not good, but not bad... we need a studio or something, I'm gonna try and win the lottery and buy one.
PRP: So, how's the music scene there in Maine?
Jeremy: Complete crap for the most part. There is nothing here, and no place to play. There are a few bands that are good, but no place for any of them to show it.
PRP: Seems like the Brazil scene. It don't motivate anyone to have a band. How do you guys can actually maintain a band with a situation like this.
Jeremy: Well, we were all friends, and we all just sort of picked it up and it worked. We live nearby, and mostly play for fun really.
PRP: That's the way it's gotta be, man....I respect that a lot..
Jeremy: Thank you much, sir.
PRP: Influences of the band?
Justin: That TV show that used to be on saturday mornings, called "Kid's Songs".
Jeremy: hmm..I'd have to say fart noises... and maybe a few bands too.
PRP: Hehe, since I'm from Brazil, you'll need to explain to me what was this show about! hehehehe
Justin: A bunch of queer little kids dancing around, and singing yankee doodle dandee over and over and over.
PRP: Oh, that's dope! I guess your influences are very common. everyone are influenced by these kind of things now a days... hehehe
Jeremy: Yeah, that's the best stuff there is. Haha
PRP: Hehehe, can't disagree.
Jeremy: Yes, you can
PRP: I can? Would you let me disagree? hehehe.
Jeremy: Yep. I won't get into it though. I don't wan't to hurt your feelings, whatever that means.
PRP: I appreciate that, since I'm a really emotive guy, and can cry for any reason..hehe. Anyway, any side projects?
Jeremy: Nope. No side projects for me, trying to get chicks maybe.
Justin: A national solo tour.
Jeremy: Hahaha
PRP: What's in the CD Player at the moment?
Jeremy: A lot of the time, Tool is, but I have been listening to the SlipKnot demo nonstop for like a month, so that too.
Justin: Staind.
PRP: I gotta say that's some pretty good choices. Staind's the best.
Jeremy: Yeah, Staind kicks ass. I like the SlipKnot demo better, though.
PRP: I don't know.....Staind is more emotional, while SlipKnot is more aggressive....
Jeremy: Yes.
PRP: Well, any big plans on the horizon?
Jeremy: I don't know what you consider big, so I'm afraid I can't answer that.
PRP: Well, then you can take the "big" out of the question.
Jeremy: I think we all want to write more songs, and get some better recordings, and huge shows, and money, and such, but thats pretty much a given with any band, I think.
PRP: How you guys got your name?
Jeremy: Our friend made it up as a name for a person that he was pretending to be. His version was Chapiza Smackeral. We just kept the Chapiza though. You know, I've noticed that everyone says it wrong, so I'll clear this up: it's pronounced "cha-peeza".
PRP: How would you describe chapiza's sounds for someone who has never heard you guys?
Jeremy: That's a really tough question. I try to figure this out all the time. We are heavy, but not super heavy. Rappy, but not too rappy. And i can't really think of any singular bands that we sound like. Well, maybe a bit like rage, but not all that much really. How's that?
PRP: Great....I think it fits just well....
Jeremy: What do you think we sound like?
PRP: Dude, I gotta say you guys are original. You're much heavier than rage. My opinion.
Jeremy: Awesome. Heavy is rad.
PRP: This question comes from Sy Co.: "Do you guys think you'll be 'somebody' someday"?
Jeremy: I honestly have no idea, and Justin is asleep now so I can't ask him. I'd like to be somebody, but as long as we have fun it doesn't matter too much I suppose.
PRP: Have you guys ever played with some well-known bands in the underground scene, like Papa Roach or TapRoot, or something?
Jeremy: Nope, we haven't actually. I'd really like to, but we can't get taken seriously from up here, and there aren't any well known bands around here. I'd like to do more shows around new england, but we haven't found anyone to help us out yet.
PRP: You sure deserve it, man.
Jeremy: Thanks, I'm glad someone thinks so. Hopefully, there's a whole bunch more people like you all over.
PRP: Which underground bands would you like to tour with?
Jeremy: That's a tough question too. I guess whatever would work, and any band that isn't a bunch of dicks, I'm sure would be fine with us. We're not picky. We'd like to draw a crowd though.
PRP: No particular ones?
Jeremy: Not that I can think of....I haven't really thought about it, mainly because we don't really know any other bands that would be touring.
PRP: Ok....I guess that's it, Jeremy. Any last words?
Jeremy: Anyone that reads this should go check us out, and sign our book or send us an email or something. We love to hear from people. And keep a lookout for us because we're doing all we can to get people to hear us, and hopefully its working. And also, listen to Chapiza or suffer the strains of imminent death syndrome.
