Band: Spineshank |
Introduction: Spineshank entered the year resting up at home from the grueling touring schedule that ensued after the release of their Roadrunner debut, "Strictly Diesel". Spending the first few months of 2000 writing new material, the band then headed to Vancouver, BC in April with producer GGGarth Richardson (Kittie, Mudvayne) to track what would become their next effort, "The Height Of Callousness". As June rolled around the sounds of the groups new material began to litter the internet as an mp3 of the track "Asthmatic" was released and spread from hard drive to hard drive as fans eagerly sent it back and forth. It was only weeks after this when the entire album leaked to the net in the ever popular mp3 format during the summer and garnered the band a lot of positive feedback on their latest work. Despite the leak, all was going well as they were finishing up the final touches for the album and beginning to rehearse for the long stretch of road ahead of them, but this didn't last for long as they were soon offered a slot on the Tattoo The Earth Tour at the last minute due to Coal Chamber dropping off the bill. In a rush, the band accepted and joined the trek only to find it unorganized and and as such they dropped off the bill 3 dates in and headed back home to spend more time rehearsing and finalize all of the details for their new record. The late summer months saw the band shoot a video for their single "Synthetic" with director Nathan "Karma" Cox (Coal Chamber, VIdeodrone) and also film a guest performance for the forthcoming Lou Diamond Phillips movie, "Knight Club". As the fall set in the group took to the road alongside (hed)p.e. and Slaves On Dope which led into the October release of their album and was followed with dates alongside various acts including 20 Dead Flower Children, Amen, Cold, Mudvayne, Relative Ash and various others. Good news soon followed these successful shows, when their track "Synthetic" was chosen as the first single off of the second MTV "Return Of The Rock" compilation CD which came out in November and also featured tracks from Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, Papa Roach and more. With MTV then giving their latest video some generous play, the band headed into the winter with some dates alongside new metal favorites Slipknot followed by a tour alongside labelmates Type O Negative and up and comers Simon Says which led into a jaunt with Disturbed and The Union Underground. Capping off the year with a handful of dates with Tinfed, Gravity Kills and close friends (hed)p.e., 2001 has seen the band taking a short break as they prep for the launch of their second single "New Disease" which will impact on radio in mid-January with a rumored slot alongside Orgy and Cold on the road planned to follow. But new disease or not, this group look poised to callous the eardrums of audiences nationwide as they continue to unload on the masses and rumors of a slot for them on one of the major summer tours are already beginning to surface. - wookubus Albums
