Band: Glassjaw |
Introduction: Glassjaw have the dubious distinction of being the last act signed to I AM/Roadrunner and also that of the band that quietly snuck into the hearts of many this year with their chillingly emotional molotov cocktail of an album. The group was signed within minutes of a small showcase they did for infamous producer Ross Robinson late last year, who then took them out to Los Angeles to record their heavily acclaimed debut effort, "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence" which saw its way onto store shelves in May. After some drummer shakeup's the then quartet welcomed Larry Gorman formerly of Orange 9mm into the fold and prepared themselves for what the future had in store for them. It wasn't long after the album's release that their wishes came true though, as they were hand picked by the Deftones to open for them on their first international tour in support of their third release "White Pony". Once that tour subsided they then went onto launch successful stints with acts ranging from Drowningman and Earth Crisis to Factory 81 and Shadows Fall before embarking on their second European tour with Soulfly and Earthtone9. Now with the year winding down and a CD single for the track "Ry Ry's Song" released in the U.K. in the early winter, the five Long Island boys are back at home resting up and planning the blueprints for their upcoming new album which they will probably hit the studio to begin recording in spring once again with producer Ross Robinson at the helms. But until then you can expect them to be back out on the road burning up stages throughout the better part of early 2001. - wookubus Albums
