Band: 16volt |
Introduction: 16volt entered the year as a casualty of the infamous label mergers of the late 90's which ended many a bands career. When their former label Slipdisc/Mercury went down the tubes, the band was faced with a tough decision and rather than push on facing extreme obstacles, they decided it would be in their best interest to just disband altogether. This move definitely shocked longtime fans who were enjoying the limited release of their latest effort "Supercoolnothing", yet despite its positive reception, the group had no choice but to remain separated. The former members did however keep themselves busy during the course of the past year, mastermind Eric Powell was involved with various projects, including his work on the upcoming album from super group Hellbent, while former bassist Mike Peoples showed up for a stint in Glitch, a band which also features Scott Ueda formerly of Tura Satana. Still even though the first half of 2000 seemed devoid for any hope of the bands future, as the year progressed, the 16volt camp seemingly began to slowly spring back to life. First came the announcement of the release of a CD featuring previously unreleased demo material entitled "Demography > The Basement Years", which eventually hit stores through Cleopatra in November. Although this alone was enough to excite fans, the real surprise came when the group took to the stage again in September for their first live show in over a year. With the show coming off as a complete success, they announced their plans to work on a new demo and continued their efforts on it through the latter half of 2000. But now, with 2001 upon us and the aforementioned demo set to arrive shortly, it finally looks like this will be the year when the group gets their just rewards and are given the resources to effectively electrify audiences worldwide. - wookubus Albums
