About

ThePRP.com is a site devoted to music that's passionate, current and innovative, regardless of whatever scene or tag it may carry. Though we generally cater to the harder audience and enjoy heavier music, our goal is to introduce lesser known acts to a wider audience while also covering the established bands that currently make up the metal scene. This in turn creates a broad audience of heavy music fans being exposed to a variety of different styles, enabling the music to touch upon a wealth of different minds, rather than become trapped and segregated into one particular scene.

As such, the site is often somewhat controversial with various audiences in that it combines mainstream with the underground and modern metal with hardcore and so on. However, this isn't done to patronize any certain scene and it is by no means just covering what is currently in or trendy just to look "hip" or "cool". Instead, it is based upon the theory that by combining coverage of acts from all walks of life, the greater base of exposure created will help the more deserving bands continue to tour and play their music, spreading their talents worldwide, rather than staying locked up in a certain scene.

We choose not to discern or limit the bulk of our coverage, because we believe that music is for everyone. This is not to say that we enjoy the music of some of the more well known artists we cover regularly, but we cover them regardless because the interest they bring enables us to create a sweeping platform that will truly benefit the lesser known artists by introducing them to fresh new audiences. The evolution of musical tastes is a process all people must go through and it is our belief that by combining high exposure artists with the up and coming bands who deserve the support, we just may be able to help speed the process along and allow the truly talented and creative music to thrive.

ThePRP is located in Canada in an office cunningly disguised as a bedroom, with wookubus working relentlessly all year round providing news, reviews and uncovering the very latest acts, when he gets around to it..

Entirely independently run, ThePRP.com's consistent dedication and keen eye for underground talent has enabled it mentions on Canadian music station Muchmusic and their weekly metal program "Loud", plus the now defunct "Farmclub.com" TV Show. In addition, the site has also shown up in Billboard Magazine, The L.A. Times, MTV.com, Mic Stand Magazine, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Rock Sound, The Fang, MTV2 in the U.K. and more. Aside from media coverage, ThePRP has also managed to gain the respect of artists worldwide, with acknowledgement of the site or its members showing up in the album credits of releases by artists such as Hatebreed, Candiria, Taproot, Mindless Self Indulgence, God Forbid, Lostprophets, dredg and many more.
