Linkin Park Awarded Three More Platinum Records

Following the July 20th suicide of Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington, fans flocked to the band’s catalog to grieve and celebrate his life. In turn, this past August saw numerous singles and albums from the band newly achieve gold and platinum status.

Earlier this month the band received three additional new certifications from the RIAA for sales/streams in the United States. Here’s what’s newly been announced:

  • The band’s 2014 album “The Hunting Party” has gone platinum. It received both its gold and platinum certifications on December 13th, 2017.
  • Their 2003 single “Numb” has been certified 4x multi-platinum, having last been certified 3x multi-platinum on August 04th, 2017.
  • Their “Numb“/”Encore” single with Jay-Z went 3x multi-platinum, having last been certified 2x multi-platinum on August 04th, 2017.

A platinum album in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. The sales certifications factor in digital streams into their awards with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
