Black Sabbath have opted out of their planned November 22nd ‘Ozzfest Japan‘ appearance, which at the time Sharon Osbourne described as being their “farewell”. Ozzy Osbourne himself further explained that the group would be disbanding after that performance. A statement released by Black Sabbath today has cancelled those plans with Ozzy Osbourne now due to play a headlining set with friends in place of Sabbath. The statement reads:
“Despite previous reports, Black Sabbath will not appear on this year’s Ozzfest Japan, the show will instead feature the festival’s namesake, Ozzy Osbourne (and friends).”
Ozzy‘s previous ‘Ozzy Osbourne And Friends‘ shows found the prince of darkness himself performing with Black Sabbath‘s Geezer Butler, ex-bandmate Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) and more. It remains unclear what Black Sabbath‘s plans are in regards to any farewell shows going forward.
