Cave In’s Stephen Brodsky Shows Off His Royalty Statement

Cave In vocalist/guitarist Stephen Brodsky has shared the below picture of a royalty statement he recently recieved. He did not specify what the check was cut for, though he did offer the caption: “When a royalty statement itself costs more to print & mail than the actual royalty payment…”

While most of Cave In‘s back catalogue have been independent releases (via Hydra Head), the band did spend a short stint as part of the RCA Records roster back in the early 2000′s with the release of their album “Antenna“. Meanwhile, Brodsky is of course not the first metal-related musician to show off their check.

Brodsky himself has a new solo EP titled “Hit Or Mystery” slated for an April 16th release date.

Antenna sucked and you should feel so lucky to earn a penny off of it ten years later.

Fucking truth right here. Look at all the pussies afraid to admit it with their thumbs down to this comment.

      • WURST

        Haha you cry babies.

    • jampola

Really?? It’s no Perfect Pitch Black I grant you that but saying it sucked it a bit strong. It’s still a solid fuckin’ album.

Still, I like that he has no qualms about tweeting a royalty cheque for an album that essentially got them kicked off RCA!

I’ll admit that my comment was a bit of trolling. Not a huge fan of Antenna, but it’s not the worst thing ever. I just saw an easy jab and I took it.

      • WURST

Not trolling at all. Just stating facts.

  • emvath

What do you want to bet that they gave him $0.01 only because they were forced to round up?

  • Lifeseclipse

Trivium makes 3 times more than that!

    • BloodyBoneKummer

According to Heafy’s tweeted check…Trivium makes 131 times that,

  • clintaur

antenna has more balls then anything you all have laid to tape. trivium also sucks satan’s dick for their earnings.

    • WURST

Antenna is garbage. Let it go.

  • sixteenseconds

I hope that doesn’t cave in their bank account.

  • BlueBalls

I hate it when musicians do this. Provide context or stfu.

    • RhiNo

Right?! Also, sign up for direct deposit!

  • JohnnyRuthless

    I fucking dig Antenna! I don’t give a fuck what you think……

    • 1gg31gg3

      I second this, great record.

Wurst, they were signed to a major for their first and only time. Did you think a masterpiece would come of it after the opus that is Jupiter, and the moody Tides of Tommorow EP? They didn’t throw there talent out the window, they just tried writing songs executives would think teens would be cool. In that aspect, at least RCA heard the possibility – and they could have made the record far, far, far worse. There’s no way anyone at RCA thought this album would have sold much more than 100,000 copies. I think it’s around 60(anyone know)?

Antenna is far from “garbage”… When the low points of the album are “Breath of Water”, and a semi-neutered Lost In The Air, you have your self a fine album. Granted the majesty of their previous releases were absent, I’ve read the producer beat the band to death trying to get sounds right for months on end(mainly guitar and vocals), that doesn’t equal a lively or timeless performance. —- The chorus in Joy Opposites fucking crushes, I agknowlage that—- It’s also shitty “Lift Off” didn’t make the cut

    • WURST

I’m glad you “agknowlage” that. Still blows though.

  • Bread Durst

“Until Your Heart Stops…” or GTFO.
