Slayer Dispute Dave Lombardo’s Claims In New Statement

The Slayer camp have fired back at recently ousted drummer Dave Lombardo‘s concerns over the bands accounting and his own contract. In a statement issued today, the group offered:

Slayer confirms that Jon Dette will drum for the band on its Australian tour that starts this Saturday, February 23 in Brisbane. As regards Dave Lombardo‘s Facebook post, Slayer does not agree with Mr. Lombardo‘s substance or the timeline of the events, except to acknowledge that Mr. Lombardo came to the band less than a week before their scheduled departure for Australia to present an entirely new set of terms for his engagement that were contrary to those that had been previously agreed upon.

The band was unable to reach an agreement on these new demands in the short amount of time available prior to leaving for Australia. There is more to the account than what Mr. Lombard has offered, but out of respect to him, Slayer will not be commenting further. Slayer is grateful to its Australian fans for their understanding of this unfortunate last-minute change, and very much looks forward to seeing them at these shows.”

Is this a Dethklok style situation where one band member who doesn’t write anything all of sudden want more publishing rights and royalties?

    • Relentless_Beating

This is a major mouthbreather comment. So who writes the drum parts? Outside of lending his voice, Tom doesn’t “write” any of the riffs, or lyrics. Should he get paid less as well? This isn’t a band where one dude writes and plays everything himself, its a fucking band. Yes, Dave is part of that, and does write with them as well.

Like a dumb ass I confused myself trying to relate this to Dethklok in terms of Brendon Small and Gene Hoglan at first. Took me a sec to realize you’re talking about one of the episode plots.

Everything always turns to fucking money

The really funny and sad part about this whole thing is that Slayer’s last really awesome record was Seasons In The Abyss. Divine Intervention had a couple good tracks. Now it is all one big money grab. How many times can these assholes play Reign In Blood and really mean it?

    • kturl69

Well…here’s the thing, Slitheryn covered Reign in Blood and that was fucking awesome. Considering they were 12-16 years old at the time. They showed more emotion then Slayer does when they play it now. P.S. Slitheryn was the mother fucking shit.

        Slitheryn was funny to watch.

The dad of two of the kids bought all the bands nice gear, got Corey Taylor….. This is about to get stupid, watch out.

Long story kind of short My friend a I had a fake band/website back in the angelfire days called EGGMASTER. My buddy would leave humorous things on the guestbook. I’m not sure why, but we ended up at the WARP skate park, where all the local bands of varying quality played—– My friend calls out “EGGMASTER”. The father comes over to us and yells “ARE YOU THE EGGMASTER!”, and fucking shoves him(we’re 16 at the time) —– Point being, what a fucking a joke. — Then my friends mom sued them and won. —- My friend went to school in Chicago, walking out of his class one day he notices the drummer from Slitheryn exiting as well. He said he was a pretty cool guy. He didn’t bring up The Eggmaster.

My 16 year old self hated the publicity they got, and I obviously harbor a messed up psyche. Frankie, the 12 year old ” front man”(on a box) was a dick. Really.

“…to present an entirely new set of terms for his engagement that were contrary to those that had been previously agreed upon.”

This does not dispute Dave’s claims, as he said he wanted to push for the band to earn a high percentage of the earnings.

“The band was unable to reach an agreement on these new demands in the short amount of time available prior to leaving for Australia.”

Dave said – Kerry made it clear he wasn’t interested in making changes and said if I wanted to argue the point, he would find another drummer.

Slayer is saying the exact same thing as Dave, sans numbers and “insider information” such as their take-home percentage and just put a PR spin on it. Taking this at face value, it looks like Dave is most certainly in the right on this one. Present some numbers, Slayer, and maybe I’ll think differently.

By the sounds of it, with Jeff still out of the band, Kerry King seems to be hoarding the cash for himself.

  • star_AD

Translation = “We get the bigger chuck of cash and that’s it fucker”

  • Relentless_Beating

What the Fuck ever happened to just being a fucking band? i understand being a big band with a label contract, but this shit is insane.

  • HoodooOperator

So, does this mean that after the Tomahawk tour that Dave will be free for a new Fantômas album? That would be fantastic!
