Melvins To Release New Covers Effort “Everybody Loves Sausages” In April

The Melvins are out to show off their influences with the coming April 30th release of a new covers album titled “Everybody Loves Sausages” on Ipecac Recordings. The bands own Buzz Osborne said of the effort:

“This record will give people a peak into the kind of things that influence us musically. We REALLY like all of these songs along with the bands who actually wrote this stuff because first and foremost we are HUGE music fans.”

A handful of guests will grace the album, which features covers recorded by both the traidtional Melvins lineup and their ‘Melvins Lite‘ incarnation. Those recorded with the latter configuration include “Female Trouble“, “Timothy Leary Lives” and “Romance By Tales Of Terror“.

      Lead Belly recorded “Black Betty” in 1939, 38 years before Ram Jam did it. The Melvin’s are doing it 36 years after Ram Jam. Although some prison workers recorded it in 1933, if I remember correctly. I could look it up, but I believe myself.
