I was a huge dredge fan, but other than the singles, this album was nothing short of boring.
i agree. i think the only people fascinated with this album are the members of dredg.
Couldn’t agree any less. Amaing album, lots of variety/textures and top-notch song-writing as far as Dredg (not Dredge) goes. 7+ years later and it still gets spun by me from time to time. Couldn’t imagine my life’s soundtrack (that sounds Otep-ishly faggy of me to say, I’ll admit) without it.
Did they even release any singles besides Bug Eyes anyhow?
I thought Ode To The Sun was a single, but I can’t tell what singles are anymore, since I can’t buy the 12″ cassettes. To each his own, I think El Cielo is way better. CWA has too much of what I feel is filler.
Also, I did type dredg, but got auto-corrected. Since we’re making a deal of it.
I definitely agree that El Cielo is their best. But to me, they never made anything less than amazing until CAMS.
Dredg is good and this is their best album IMO, but bands like Karnivool and Ohio Sky take this style of music to the next level and get half the recognition.
Seems really odd to release a making of documentary 7 years later…I agree with most that El Cielo is one of their strongest works…I wouldn’t say Catch Without Arms is terrible, it’s a good CD and I liked the whole opposites concept they went after. In a lot of interviews they all said it was an effort to make ‘artsy’ music without being ‘weird’ or something to that extent…that being said I dunno what the hell happened to them with Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy…
