Papa Roach’s Jacob Shaddix Pens Letter To “His Younger Self”
Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix (who is coming through a period of emotional turmoil) has penned a letter to his younger self. A segment from that can be read below with the full letter available over at Rocksound.tv.
The group released their new album “The Connection” earlier this week.
“So…
You know what, just do what you’re gonna do, son. You’re going to do exactly what you want to do, because you never listen to anybody as it is. You’re going to make more than your fair share of mistakes, and you’re going to make apologies for those mistakes where necessary, but ultimately everything that happens is going to be part of your journey.
It’s a trip that’s going to be bumpy, unpleasant and at times downright dangerous, but it’s a trip that you’re going to need to go on to find out who you are. It’ll be tough and it’ll be terrific in equal measure, but when you come out the other side you’re going to be in the best place possible. Just remember to appreciate what you have, and to fight for the things that mean the most to you in life, because believe me, you’re gonna have to do that. You’re going to learn the hard way, but that’s just the way you roll.
But, no matter what, just remember that you’re gonna be alright. You’re a fighter and you’ve never let any motherfucker grind you down before, so make sure that you stay that way and keep that fire burning. You’re your own worst enemy, but that’s what makes you you. Never lose sight of that and you’ll make it.
I gotta warn you that some bad shit is gonna happen, dude. Shit is going to go down in a big way and it’s gonna push you to the fucking limit, so you need to keep your wits about you. You’re not always gonna be ready for it and it’s gonna fucking own you from time to time, so you’re gonna have to fight even when you feel like you can’t. Some of this shit will take you by surprise and leave you broken…”

WTF?!?
Wait, did I miss something? Did someone develop the technology to actually send messages back in time? If so, someone tell Tupac to stay outta Vegas.
Really?? Lame man. There is better, less annoying ways to promote your album.
there’s always a 14 yr old fan trying to make sense of the world that will identify with this which we adults call life…
it is indeed a lame way to promote the album, but i guess the only they can do!
Hello me… meet the real me. I’ve made a living out of being a fake schizophrenic asshole. Not that I am a fake asshole, that part is real. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I am the same as I ever was, so you won’t have to worry about anything difficult like changing with the times or god forbid, actually maturing. I still enjoy underage pussy, it’s just that now I can get in trouble for it, so be careful. I guess that is all I have to say… oh wait, don’t forget to pretend to kill myself… that shit sells records. Peace out Mofo!!!
He just made his successful bid into the mainstream of rock music through generic music and some possible mental problems as a side dish sound like a fucking Hallmark movie. Lame as hell.
maybe this was his last resort.
Someone did that joke already in another posting.
this guy is old enough to know better, ‘downright dangerous’ being such a cunt
Please make him stop…..no one cares about your music.
