Deftones Debut New Song “Leathers”
@deftonesband While a day later than expected, the new Deftones track “Leathers” has been posted online as a free download via the bands official website, Deftones.com (and via the Soundcloud widget below.)
It comes from the groups forthcoming album “Koi No Yokan“, which is slated for a November 13th release date. As previously reported, the song “Tempest” is slated to serve as the first single from the album and will land online on October 09th.

I turned the volume up during the intro because it was soft. I was then immediately ripped to shreds. This is pure Deftones. Dynamics of brutality and beauty all wrapped together. They haven’t gone anywhere and it’s why they’ve been my favorite band since I was 12.

This song is very Saturday Night Wrist with a little Diamond Eyes; Diamond Eyes in terms of production, Saturday Night Wrist for the overall feel.
Guitars could be a little darker in tone, and the snare is a little soft, but this is only a stream, so the end result may be better.

Today I came home between class and work and checked my mail only to find a notice that a warrant was issued for my arrest. I called the process server/bail bond agency that sent the shit only to be told I missed a court date for a civil case I was never subpoenaed for, though they claim that I was. These motherfuckers wanted hundreds from me to lift the warrant and they also happened to be the same people that never served me the papers. They threatened to have me picked up today if I didn’t pay them. I called their bluff. After a long cursing match with the guy over the phone, I told them I would take my chances with the warrant while I handled it with the courts directly and that they wouldn’t see a fucking dime from me. Now I have to look over my goddamn shoulders for the next few days while I deal with it. Horrible day to say the least.
I thought nothing could possibly put a smile on my face today…UNTIL I HEARD THIS FUCKING SONG! Holy shit Deftones. Thank you for once again making my stressful ass existence a hell of a lot more manageable. I can’t name a band that has had a more profound effect on my life over the years.

Very few bands can put out as many albums as Deftones and still be true to their real fans. They are still able to impress me with everything they do. They are what music is all about!
So I look up “Koi No Yokan” and it means “The sense upon first meeting a person that the two of you are going to fall into love.” Yep. That sums up the Deftones for me. Well played Sirs, Well played.
