JDevil, Bassnectar & More Leading “Metalstep” Movement
It would appear that Metalstep is now officially a thing. According to the aforementioned article, the burgeoning dubstep-offshoot is being led by metal influenced artists such as Korn‘s Jonathan “JDevil” Davis, Bassnectar and Mixhell (Cavalera Conspiracy/ex-Sepultura).
According to Bassnectar:
“It’s been about 10 years since I’ve noticed that my friends into electronic music very heavily have some kind of metal or rock side. “It seems like a really natural progression to me. Death metal is all about intensity, frequencies, volumes and tempos, using the approach that you play your instrument as intensely as possible.”

Pshhhh….get with the times people. Post-metalstep is where it’s at!
I’m more into djubstep, myself.
I’m not going to forgive Bassnectar for touching a deftones song. One more excuse not to listen to his music.
And I’m not going to forgive John for obvious reasons.
“Death metal is all about intensity, frequencies, volumes and tempos, using the approach that you play your instrument as intensely as possible.”
And how does this apply to dubstep?
