Korn To Tour With Mudvayne Bassist Ryan Martinie This Month

Korn will be touring Europe this month with Mudvayne bassist Ryan Martinie in place of Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu. Fieldy will temporarily be stepping down from the groups live duties to tend to the impending birth of his child.

Korn issued the following statement on the switch:

Fieldy and his wife are expecting a child this August! While Fieldy is home with his family for this incredible new arrival, bassist Ryan Martinie of Mudvayne has graciously agreed to fill in on the road for some of the upcoming shows.

We are so happy for Fieldy and his family, and welcome Ryan onboard for these select shows!”

        • But in all fairness Ryan’s a pretty bad ass or at least has a style unique enough to be recognizable & separates him from the typical bassist. Mudvayne tho, as of the time following the release of end of all things; has seized to exist to me. popping up here and there as a sad comic display & reminder of how the mighty have fallen. That and dont put out studio tracks you’ll never be able to perform live (at least consistently and repeatedly). That 1st big tour supporting LD in 2000, before chad really cleared out all that shit in his throat helping with screams, he was the shit and could somewhat keep up w/ less then otherwise easy vocal parts. By their dvd from sanitorium chad was terrible and almost uncomfortable watch. Feeling embarrassed for both of us

I had the misfortune of sitting through a Mudvayne set at Ozzfest once, and that Chad dude has zero talent. He fell behind on almost every vocal part, and if there was a held scream part,it was cut by half of what it was supposed to be. People were actually booing them where I was sitting, and these people had their merch on.

Then I saw them again years later when me and my buddy went to see Korn for the hell of it. No clue who was opening, til we sat down. Chad managed to be even worse. I was speechless.

I’m pretty sure they had a similar situation a few years ago where Munky was on hiatus (aka rehab) and it was just Jonathan and Fieldy. It doesn’t really matter, though. Let’s not kid ourselves here: These days, Korn are a brand, not a band.

    • I like KoRn and all… more so back in the day, but… Ryan is an incredible bass player. On par with Flea and other extraordinary talents. Very innovative and constructive… the bass lines in KoRn are something a 5 year old could play. This is sad. Ryan must be desperate to play some music and tour and Chad is off being incredibly gay with Hellyeah. Mudvayne was something Hellyeah will never be.

Not really..Ryan has to play all of Fieldy’s basic bass lines..not like he’s going to get all crazy jazzy and shit during “Y’all Wanna A Single”. Fuck he won’t even have to play half the set due to the dub step bullshit.
By your same analogy…it’s like Korn picked up a stud free agent wide receiver and made him play kicker.

‘Ryan must be deperate to play some music and tour again…’

Ryan is desperate for a paycheck, like most other nu-metal musicians these days.

LOL. It’s not about how good you can play your instrument, it’s about style and creativity. ONLY nothing/flopped musicians talk about that garbage. I will agree hellNO is weak and Mudvayne is seriously badass.

Ryan is phenomenal bassist, one of the most underrated ones ever. LD50 is a great c.d. even today, even though Chad is garbage live. I hope Ryan jazzy fizzles those lines up when they play. that would be cool to seee
