Wes Borland On New Limp Bizkit Album: “We Don’t Want To Make Gold Cobra II”
Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland recently spoke with Revolvermag.com regarding the bands next album (the so-called “Stampede Of The Disco Elephants“;) and the impending new full-length release from his Black Light Burns project.
Speaking on the new Bizkit release, he revealed that the outfit have fourteen songs in various stages of completion. When asked about the direction, he stated:
“We’re going two different directions right now. One direction is very heavy like our last album Gold Cobra, but with me pushing the riffs further than they were before. But we’re also working on hip-hop club tracks that have guitar and Fred on them. We’re coming from two very different places on this and right now they’re starting to cross over into each other, which is exciting. We don’t want to make Gold Cobra II.”
Producer DetaiL has been overseeing the sessions for the album, which currently doesn’t have a release date attached to it. However, the group do intend to launch a major U.S. tour in support of it this October with Borland‘s Black Light Burns opening.
Some readers may recall that they were approaching Norma Jean as a potential support act for the trek. More on the album, Black Light Burns and Limp Bizkit‘s M.I.A. single with labelmate Lil Wayne can be found at the above-mentioned link.

COMMENTS
I wouldn’t want to repeat an album that didn’t sell well, either.
What happened with Gold Cobra? I don’t follow what LB does and I’m too lazy to look it up. Were they independent at the time, hence the lack of promotion? Or was their “plan” to have little promotion for the piece of shit?
From what I read, the album was not given much promotion, and since they didn’t tour behind it either, that’s at least part of why it didn’t sell well. I have no idea if the lack of promotion was due to them or the record label. They were signed to Interscope at the time.
I don’t think Norma Jean will do the tour, since they announced they’d be touring with Born of Osiris which looks like it will take place in October. The NJ dudes didn’t seem like they were against it. seemed like they were down with it
We don’t want them to make Gold Cobra II. Actually, we didn’t want them to make Gold Cobra I. What I’m saying is, the world would breathe a collective sigh of joy if Limp Bizkit broke up and dissapeared forever. I am, however, looking forward to the news of this “major U.S. tour” being cancelled like every other tour they’ve done over the last 7 years or so.
I’m not sure why this has so many thumbs down. Fred must have got all his friends to come do that.
of course we don’t want that, man. we want you guys to make Cold Gobra.
I will accept nothing less than a total masterpiece.
We don’t want to make Gold Cobra II, but that’s what we’ll end up doing anyway.
And we can all now sleep at night…on our huge anime pillows.
UGH. Black Light Burns is so much better than anything LB has ever done. Please just ditch LB forever, Wes!
