Drowning Pool Announce New Frontman

Drowning Pool have officially announced Jasen Moreno (The Suicide Hook) as their newest frontman (their fourth for those not keeping score.) Band guitarist C.J. Pierce had the following to say about Moreno‘s addition to their lineup:

“It’s been a pleasure working with Jasen. He’s everything we hoped for in a singer and he jumped right in, stepped up to the plate and got straight to work. Jasen has brought not only a new voice but a new fire to the Drowning Pool sound and we can’t wait to share the new music with everyone.”

Moreno himself offered the following:

“I am extremely happy and very grateful to be a part of the Drowning Pool family. Everyone’s been so welcoming, especially the fans. I can’t praise them enough. They’ve made me feel right at home. This first run of live shows couldn’t have gone any better!”

The band entered House Of Loud Studios in New Jersey earlier this year to begin tracking their new album with producer Kato Khandwalla. Further sessions are expected to take place in Dallas, TX with an early 2013 release in the works.

At what point do a group of musicians decide that their band name is cursed and it is time to come up with a new name. Seriously, is Drowning Pool such an awesome name that you just can’t let go… move on fellas!

I saw them live a few weeks ago, the dude looks like he’s fresh out of Filipino Idol. Not bad, but nothing amazing – they made a huge mistake by letting Ryan go.

      • @adam….Filipino Idol?! Hahaha the dude is Mexican.

Actually, I heard about this move over a month ago from dudes associated with TSH but didnt believe it. Jason is a kick ass clean vocals singer, this isnt the right fit for him at all. I agree with FBD above, change the name already and move on from Drowning Pool.

Didn’t Black Sabbath go through 3 or 4 singers? Ozzy, Dio, The guy from Deep Purple, and some other guy. Although Sabbath was lucky they got all those legendary singers.

Sabbath are also iconic and influential metal legends; they can get away with such a thing.

Drowning Pool are washed-up, third-tier nu-metallers who were never worth a damn to begin with.

    • Thanks to THERileyBrewer for the shout out. In addition to the bands he mentioned, D/FW has plenty of solid heavy artists worth checking out such as Kaliya, Kill The Client, Baring Teeth, The Brothers Highhorse, My Son My Executioner, The Destro, Protest and Fighting Chance.

I’m not a fan of Drowning Pool’s music but I’ll support fellow D/FW musicians that are still working on their art and hitting the road. Plus, Steve Benton is part owner of The Boiling Room which gives Deep Ellum another solid venue for bands to play in.
