Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe Granted New Bail Conditions, Gives First Interview From Behind Bars

Idnes.cz are reporting that the Prague Municipal Court has dismissed the prosecutors complaint to block Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe‘s release from a Prague, CZE prison. However, his bail amount has since been doubled to $400,000—an extra $200,000 on what Blythe has already paid.

The closed session to decide Blythe‘s fate took early than expected, though bail will not be accepted until the municipal court sends their decision back to the circuit court. According to the article, it appears there is also the possibility that the prosecutors could file another complaint against Blythe‘s release, once again repeating the cycle.

Blythe has been held in custody for around 20 days now on suspicion of manslaughter in relation to the fatal injuries suffered by a fan at a show the band played in 2010. Since the initial footage emerged, it would appear there was another interaction, which saw Blythe allegedly choke the fan in question onstage. It is said to now be the primary focus of the case.

Meanwhile, Blythe has also given his first interview since being locked up to Blesk.cz. A hasty Google translation of that can be found below:

What happened during the incident at the club during the concert Abaton Lamb of God in 2010?

“I do not know about any incident. Few remember, because I have a lot of concerts. Just remember that the club was a small stage, which barely fit and group facilities. Also, apparently there was a security guard because many people climbed onto the stage. I think that one small boy in particular, but I could be confused with other clubs. Since the concert I have glasses, I see very little more than outlines details. In any case, I did not attack anyone. Only could happen that I came into contact with the audience, when I defended unpredictable contacts.”

How do you spend time in custody and what inmates?

“I read, I write letters to friends, family, can also write diary. With the other fellow, I think come out very well, even trying to learn a Mongolian English. I’m starting to write a book about Pankrác prison and write lyrics. “

Do you have reservations about the work of the Czech police and justice in your case?

“As for the police, I believe that it is very professional and it follows the principles of good conduct. But in terms of justice, then frankly I do not understand because it is different than the U.S.. I thought that if the group folds on bail, I’ll be released. Definitely do not understand how my case may be qualifi ed as is, since our goal is to satisfy the audience that they liked the show and not be discouraged. “

On Wednesday, you met your wife. Support your family and your fans?

“My meeting with my beautiful wife was beautiful and encouraging. I have received messages and support from family, my friends from the group, who all missing me, and I can not wait to see them all. “

You have passed the bail, apparently soon get to freedom. What are your future plans?

“If I go back to the U.S., I have to mow the lawn, spend some time with family and plunge back into performing, so I can pay for legal services. Friends help earn money so that we can live decently. If I’d had to stay in the Czech Republic, I would look at the sights, especially in Prague. I find, wherever he went Kafka, and I will eat dumplings.”

Meanwhile, Dave Brockie (aka Oderus Urungus) of Gwar has written a lengthy tale in support of freeing Blythe and more for RVANews.com.

Note to every other band in existence that tours and has rambunctious fans:
Do not play in Prague,Czech Republic.

      This is truly fucked up.

Words cannot describe how brutal this scenario is turning out to be.

I wish I knew more details but right now it is looking pretty much like a scam.

          Dafuq?

Homocide? It wasn’t a murder, buddy. Manslaughter. While both infer death, they’re different in terms of definition, sentencing, etc.

You’re right. 2 years after an event and they still have no idea what is up and are still processing evidence. Oh another angle showing that you pushed him on his waste…

Actually bail is now $600,000. Sorry Randy… And trust us this isn’t a SCAM or anything.

    • I can understand the hesitation from the CR gov’t/police that RB would fly back to America, outside of their jurisdiction and therefore not return for trial.
It’s the same thing here in the USandA.

However, I would truly like to know if RB has been afforded the right and opportunity to meet with US diplomats while in CR custody, and hopefully the US consolate in the CR is following this case, and helping those involved in this drawn out process.

I gotta believe that randy blythe is famous enough and that this getting coverage on virginian news would make it apparent to the president. Get off your fucking ass Obama and send in seal team 6 (or at least the cast of NAVY SEALS) to save this dude. Too bad for randy its an election year and he is neither latino or gay and trying to get married, cause he’d be home by now!

Has nothing to do with being famous enough for blah blah blah. I know who Randy is, and I still dont really care that much. He got himself caught up in this and now he has to deal with it.

He didn’t really get himself into anything. I mean all he was doing was performing, he didn’t fight anyone. I saw a clip of that show. there were people jumping off the stage all night. Randy’s hand barely touched the heads of anyone. It is just a sad fact that he is being detained so far from home, he has already posted 200.000 dollars in bail (without release), and there is no evidence to process. The show was 2 freaking years ago haha. I mean this is pretty much BS. He should be home.

Seal Team Six? Do you live in a fucking video game? The guy is barely known outside of the metal scene. He’s pompous and wines about not making enough money. If they don’t send in the military or mercenaries to bring back hostage journalists, what makes you think in a billion years they’d do it for a guy who growls in a metal band? I agree he’s getting a raw deal, but he’s not up for the death penalty or anything. Sheesh. Calm down people, it’s Randy Blythe, not your Commander in Chief.

ya….a joke. *rolls eyes* sorry for speaking my mind, and having a quasi-articulate speech pattern. Maybe next time I’ll just type out an assortment of “hoots and hollers” so I can fit in with your cool crowd.

yeah i guess you dont get sarcasm. that is why i mentioned the osama squad and that ridiculous movie, then made a pun about the american political landscape. And if you want to split hairs about popularity, he’s an american citizen, but its an election year so he’s falling through the cracks. It doesnt matter about his level of fame, just ask those 3 american hikers who were detained in iran for 1.5 years for “espionage”, just for hiking over a border, marginally! this whole thing stinks of BS and it’s about money and political clout.
