Glassjaw Perform First “Worship And Tribute” Anniversary Show In NYC, Footage Available

Glassjaw performed the first in a series of two “Worship And Tribute” 10th anniversary sets last night, July 07th, at the Irving Plaza in New York City, NY. The group performed the aforementioned album in full with a bonus encore that consisted of “El Mark” and “Convectuoso“.

Judging by the show, it looks as though there continues to be no love lost with their label home Warner Bros. Records though, as the band displayed their contract with the label on the screen. Fan-filmed footage of the performance, which also included this teaser for the bands long-awaited “Live In London” DVD, can be found below.

Meanwhile, a new merch deal on the bands official site, Glassjaw.com promises fans access to an upcoming “special event” in Nassau County, NY. The event will take place on August 09th, 2012 with those who purchase to be notified 48 hours prior to the mystery event.

Further footage can also be found at this this Youtube channel.

There was a time when this was one of the only bands I listened to. Then Justin Beck acted like a dick to me right after I bought two $40 hoodies right in front of him. I still think this is one of the best rock bands of the early 00′s and Palumbo is one of my top 5 vocalists of all time. That being said, I can’t listen to them anymore. In short – fuck Justin Beck. Yea, I’m bitter.

      • Palumbo is one of your top 5 vocalists of all time?! Haha the dude isn’t that great. That’s like saying the guitarist from Godsmack is one of your favorite guitarists of all time.

I love his style. He’s extremely versatile and pushes the boundaries with everything he does. I’m not saying he should be on everyone’s top 5, I’m saying he fits what I look for in enjoyable vocals. He doesn’t just fit into the pocket and fill a void, GJ would in no way be what they are without him. And HEad Auto’s first album was great, shows he could go from angry post hardcore to straight pop and do just as well.

I think that maybe WURST is a bot program built into the prp board. As soon as anyone posts something he’s right on it. If said post contains a name, he’s programmed to say, “it sucks” or “they suck”. On the other hand, if you don’t like it, the bot replies with “one of the best [X] of all time!!” You’ve had your fun Wook, you can turn off WURSTbot now.

I’ve heard this from numerous people, especially on the GJN forums over the years but when I met him in Aus a few years back, dude was pretty humble and quite the stand up jew (contrary to what I initially thought, mind you!).

Not saying that he wasn’t a prick to the next guy who came to shake his hand. Mind you, there are members of some bands who are just like that 100% of time (Looking in Maynard’s direction) but you really shouldn’t let it stop you from downloading their music at the very least!

        • I second that. Don’t let the fact that a band you like has an asshole member keep you from pirating all their shit.

        • I was afraid to approach Beck at first because I’ve heard he could come off like a dick, but like I stated below he was cool to me. It depends what kind of mood he’s in, and what the fan’s like I guess.

    • I met Justin Beck right before they went on tonite, he was really cool, showed him my fresh GJ tattoo that I got on my forearm earlier today to commemorate the shows, and he called over his boy to check it out. I was hoping they would play a little extra tonite, but same set. Had a great time though. Band was really into it.

People talk shit. Maybe he could be a really nice guy. Haha maybe just don’t act like a freak (which can be hard when you meet certain band members).
Recently met Decapitated, Baroness, the Faceless, Mastodon, Fuck the Facts, Exhumed, All Shall Perish, Between the Buried blah blah blah. They’re all bad ass if you’re not all over their nuts like I am.

    • At the end of the midnight show there was a video clip played, and at the end it said “Glassjaw: Live in London”, looks like a DVD is coming. Perhaps on a related note Merchdirect is selling a bundle with a custom GJ t-shirt, all five of the “Our Color Green” vinyl and a ticket to a special event “somewhere in Nassau County TBD” for $93. I’m guessing DVD release party. If I wasn’t poor from my trip to NYC for the W&T shows, tons of merch, and GJ tattoo I would be all over this.

i’d heard the same things about Beck and some shit about Daryl too but the three different times I saw GJ back in their heyday they always came out and talked to kids by the vans. I have picture with Daryl and I in the middle of a Minneapolis blizzard for fuck’s sake. Nothing ruins a band like a bad experience though so I understand your point MediaProphet. Shitty example but I met Coal Chamber back in like 2001 and Dez pretty knocked a group of kids over to get to his meth, er, tour bus.
