Alexisonfire To Return For Farewell Tour

Alexisonfire will be reuniting for one final farewell tour together. Guitarist/vocalist Wade MacNeil (now of Gallows) has confirmed the news via his Twitter. Meanwhile, guitarist/vocalist, etc. Dallas Green told Spinner:

“I don’t know what we’ll do. I don’t think we’ll play arenas. It’ll probably be a bunch of shows, probably be a bunch of nights at a smaller place. Maybe we’ll play every record or maybe we’ll do different set lists and stuff. It’ll be more of a happy-go-lucky vibe than ‘hey, look at how big we were.’ You know what I mean? It would be more about celebrating what we had and what we did and what we accomplished.”

I’m happy to see that Alexisonfire is coming together one last time to remind people that it’s not about fame and fortune – it’s about the music entirely. They are a big band, and definitely one to respect, but it’s nice to know that it didn’t all go to their heads.

I love AOF, I really do and to this day, Watch Out! is one of my favorite albums from the past 10 years. BUT WAIT! Hold on…since when did Dallas turn into a pretentious fuck?!?! If someone wants to be pretentious, you better have something to back that shit up but seriously, I’ll eat a fuckin’ hat the day AOF sell out even half an arena.

Like the last 2 posters said, these comments are hilarious. Alexisonfire became a joke pretty fast after their 3rd album, and only played sold out arena shows due to who they were opening for, not cause of who they were.

And does being “big” here in Canada really count for anything, in the grand scheme of things?

What albums were you listening to dude? Old Crows/Young Cardinals was great and Dog’s Blood was a creative high point for the band (not to mention also being fucking great). These guys did no wrong in my eyes and did nothing but release the soundtrack to many happy times in my life.

Sorry man, Crisis and OC/YC was just junk to me. Dog’s Blood was a nice little return to the roots, but a little too far too late for me.

I can respect you enjoying all their music, I have bands where I enjoy their entire catalog, while others hate certain periods. It happens.

There is a huge difference in following of these bands in regards to their homelands. Kasiban headlines festivals in the UK with tens of thousands of people, yet plays in 700 capacity clubs here in the US. Dallas confirmed this at Bonnaroo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CytLkkmGcfA) and I will be attending at minimum two of these shows. Saw Dallas / City & Colour on Wednesday, what a voice.

    • Poor Dallas will be crying on the phone to his wife every night of the tour…I seem to remember that being a reason he left AOF in the first place…which struck me as odd seeing as he still tours regardless…
