New Documents And Twists Surface In Kyuss Lives! Legal Proceedings

The Kyuss/Kyuss Lives! legal mess continues to press forward. The most recent turn of events took place just last week. It saw former band members Josh Homme and Scott Reeder ask a Los Angeles, CA federal court to issue a preliminary injunction against John Garcia and Brant Bjork.

This injunction, if granted, would prevent the pair from ever using the Kyuss Lives! moniker as well. Previously Homme and Reeder had largely only been seeking to stop the aforementioned pair from obtaining the rights to the Kyuss trademarks.

Some inter-band emails (apparently submitted as evidence in the case) and court documents can be found at both Antiquiet.com and Cityofdevils.info.

They should change the name to KYUSS vs. KYUSS.

I hope Garcia and Bjork win the rights, I also hope Reeder changes his mind and joins them.

Homme has been extremely dismissive of the name Kyuss until early this year.

I want Kyuss to live, I don’t want to see it die.

Right on, I still struggle to understand the premise behind all of this. The only thing that I can conclude is that Josh Homme is a way bigger egomaniac than I had previously assumed. Reeder is obviously being led like a little lamb by Homme. I hope that the judge/jury do the right thing and let Kyuss Live!

Yeah, to Hell with Homme’s rights as a former member/songwriter. He totally deserves to be screwed out of royalties because, y’know, he’s got a bigger band and all. What a jerk!

Let me guess, you download all of your music as well.

Well there are these things called record shops, but I suppose I should have written “you ILLEGALLY download all your music.” That’s what I get for posting a rant with a few beers in me.
