Stone Sour have parted ways with their bassist Shawn Economaki. An as-yet unannounced fill-in has been recruited for the studio sessions for the bands new album with a photo available via guitarist James Root‘s Instagram. On that Root offered:
“Shawn is no longer with us. A lot has happened in the past year… We need to move forward and they’ll be more detail when the time is right. He’s still a great friend and we’re in touch. But for now we have a mystery dude that shreds filling in for the studio.”
Band frontman Corey Taylor himself also confirmed the news via his Twitter, offering:
“As some of you might have heard but I’ll confirm it: Shawn Economaki is no longer with Stone Sour. We wish him luck in the future.”
Stone Sour have been tracking their new album in the studio as of late with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse). An October release date is tentatively expected.
