Lamb Of God, Machine Head, Etc. To Take Part In “Mayhem Fest” Cruise
A Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival-themed cruise is apparently in the works. Machine Head‘s Robb Flynn spilled the beans to Metalinjection.net, revealing that his band, Anthrax, Lamb Of God and Suicide Silence will be taking part in the voyage.

I hope Machine Head doesn’t sink the ship with their terrible songs.
I’d like to meet these rich metal heads that are going to afford tickets to go on a fucking cruise.
Cruises aren’t terribly expensive, but I say this having never gone on a themed one. My last one was a 7-day cruise for about $450, which isn’t shit. Obviously that doesn’t include airfare or excursions or booze, but I think I made a profit in steak consumed. We watched the Super Bowl on the deck in the Caribbean, certainly a bad ass experience. I’d like to go on the 311 cruise next year.
$450 I could us that much money see some good bands on the stable ground in a regular club. have enough for Merch, booze, steak dinner, and get a hotel after the show.
adamonfire – I’m also aiming to go on the 311 cruise next year. I went to 311 Day in Vegas this year and had a blast. This cruise sounds pretty sweet, too.
311 suck donkey dicks! just sayin’
I actually attended the first 70,000 Tons of Metal. Total price for myself was $848.00 after fees & taxes. That included all meals (and it’s good food, folks) and any on-ship auxiliary events (Guitar clinics were held, there was karaoke, and then Sabaton held a table tennis tournament… winner got the table!). If you want to do something special in wherever this thing lands, it’s going to be extra. Also, yeah, you’ve gotta fly or drive to wherever (probably Miami) and all of that. So yeah, I spent about $1350 altogether.
However, that was easily the best experience of my life. It was worth every single cent I spent. The lineup was, for me, not as impressive as a ship full of metalheads not kicking each other’s asses except in the many, many mosh pits I was a part of. The exception to this was the belligerent drunk guy who was dumb enough to wear a Limp Bizkit shirt with a backward red cap in the same room as someone with a Bathory shirt and no patience for fools.
So… uhh… Suicide Silence fans really, really irritate me. Them alone may be enough reason for me to pass… but if Mastodon joins up then… well, fuck. I bought my way in with my tax return in 2010. My tax return for 2013 looks pretty shitty…
Think of it as a concert with lots of bikinis; a big party you don’t have to drive to get to and you have your own room within walking distance. The popularity of the music cruises is peaking; there is already a cruise for every form of music. For the band: they are not lugging equipment around the country (think gas prices) setting up in some dank club, and hey, they get a cruise. The cruises typically sell out, so there are mostly like-minded individuals there for a good time, not alot of dumb gawkers. I have never been but I wouldn’t rule it out.
Pictures, etc

Metal Cruises are farily big thanks to 70,000 tons, cause now we have the Barge to Hell Cruise and now this. But I would still go on this one, SS sucks ass and I hate them with a passion but obviously there is going to be a pretty well stacked lineup with the dudes that run Mayhem are putting this on. I would go to this in a heart beat but I estimate it would cost me a total of about $2,000.00 – $2,500.00 to attend. Thats a bit steep for me.
In addition to the ones listed here there’s also Shiprocked, Kid Rock’s Chillin the Most, Barge to Hell, a Lynyrd Skynyrd cruise, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, VH1 Best Cruise Ever, etc.
Holy fuck, I had no idea there were so damn many! Thanks for the knowledge drop.
Machine Heads is like my favorite band, to bad I have to miss out, and MH doesn’t have terrible songs, if you’ve ever listened to the Blackening or Locusts then you know that songs like “clenching the fists of dissent” , “Halo”, “Darkness Within” are pure genius, musicality wise and Lyrically, the Lyrics to Dissent are amazing! and if you cant see that then you must suffer from extreme retardation…
Don’t get me wrong, as I like most Machine Head stuff, but I love it when a deluded fan of some band says “…if you can’t see that then you must suffer from extreme retardation…”
Seriously, whenever someone posts that, most people that read it think the opposite (as in the poster is the retard).
My main issue with MH right now is that they are trying (and have been since Imperium came out) to make every fucking song into a 10 minute epic. I wish they would just write good songs and let them end when they get too a good spot to end them. Each song does not need 20 solos and 40 changes of pace. Other than that, they are a great fucking band, I just prefer the old stuff.
Rob Flynn said that after an extensive touring cycle they went back to writing music and the Label was surprised that they came in with 2 10 min songs for the blackening, Rob said they tried to shorten it but they couldn’t without it sucking, and Dissent was an amazing song hands down, bias aside, the lyrics to that song are pretty damn good, same with a farewell to arms, some people just prefer straight riffs and some prefer something for technical, it’s not like they completely went dream theater on the Blackening. I don’t consider myself a diluted fan so far 14 other people agree with me.

Darkdevout, wasn’t your last avatar a picture of St. Anger? I think that renders your thumbs down null and void. That leaves the score at 1 for me and 14 for the rest of you boneheads.
So it’s apparently illegal for my profile pic to be St. Anger? sorry I just thought it was a cool album cover, what ever I’ll just pump the MH. AESTHETICS OF HATE MOTHER F*CKER \m/
I think a cool theme for a cruise would be ‘Boats & Hoes’.
