Dirtfedd Launch $22,000 Kickstarter Campaign For New EP

Dirtfedd, who recently scored an opening slot on this years “Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival“, are attempting to raise $22,000 dollars to record their new six song EP.

Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn Crahan has agreed to produce the outing, which will apparently be recorded in some grand Dethklok-fashion given that budget. Those interested in donating can do so at Kickstarter.

According to the band:

“We are Dirtfedd, a heavy metal/rock n roll band from Lincoln, Nebraska. Dirtfedd was formed in April of 2002, so next month we’ll be celebrating 10 years together. Dirtfedd is a brotherhood made up of 6 friends that absolutely REFUSE to give up on this band or each other.

Being from the midwest, a very strong work ethic is instilled in each member of the band. We’ve learned over the last 10 years that nothing worthwhile is simply handed to you. Hard work, determination, and patience are essential, especially in the rock music world.

We have come to Kickstarter to ask for your assistance in the recording of our 6-song EP which will be produced by M. Shawn Crahan aka clown of Slipknot.

Time is of the essence for this project, because we recently received some exciting and monumental news. Dirtfedd has been chosen to play on this summer’s entire Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival 2012 beginning on June 28th in San Bernardino CA ending August 5th. The main acts on this festival include headliner Slipknot, Slayer, Motorhead, Anthrax, As I Lay Dying, and many many more great acts on several stages.

The goal is to have a 6-song EP recorded, mixed, mastered, and available for purchase before the Mayhem Festival begins also there will be live tracks included along with a remix of each song. We are very loyal people, and are forever grateful to anyone that has helped us out along the way.

Hopefully you can sense how important all of this is to us, and offer your support in any way possible. We want you to know that after each band performance on Mayhem we will be signing with M. Shawn Crahan at the Sopra Evil Tent. Make sure you come and say hello so we can thank you personally, We look forward to meeting all of you.

Thank you

Dirtfedd

    • I can understand Byzantine’s request for $5000. That’s possible and happened. But $22000 for a band mostly no one’s heard of??? That’s borderline insane.

      • That’s exactly what I thought (as I paid Byzantine, and I love them)… but they wanted $5,000 for a full record. These dudes want fuckin’ $22K for an EP. Retarded.

    • From their Kickstarter page:

“Being from the midwest, a very strong work ethic is instilled in each member of the band. We’ve learned over the last 10 years that nothing worthwhile is simply handed to you.”

Wellllllllllllll, except for that $22k handout.

      • Why is there a Dirtfedd article on the PRP? I’m from Omaha so they’re just a shitty local band to me.

Also, the “midwestern work ethic” thing is very stupid and hypocritical as Stimulus pointed out.

If each of their Facebook fans donated $3.18 they’d reach their goal. Somehow M Shawn Crahan’s fans would only need to donate $0.13 each. How that dude got nearly 175,000 likes is beyond me.

If Clown is SO into this band why wouldn’t he cut them a deal or do it for free?

With that said, Fuck this bullshit. Play shows, Make some money, Save it in a band fun, Then record an E.P., Just like every other band does..And MAYBE try doing a record withen your actual budget. Just a few rational thoughts.

    • $22,000? Has to be a joke or a misprint. Theres a studio I know of that will do 6 songs for like $2,400. Thats a $20,000 difference….and the recording is top notch for todays standards. Studio has several albums out on labels too. With todays technology, anyone can have a studio and rent exp. gear to record off of. That price is crazy for just 6 songs. I’m assuming its for the clowns time, or the studio cost they are using. Dethkloks studio and all

Not surprised these guys can’t afford to record. When most of your money goes into getting fucked up and trying to live the rock and roll lifestyle instead of the actual music, this is what happens. This band is an earsore and makes the rest of us metal musicians here in Lincoln want to puke. From their constant bitching and griping about who headlining LOCAL shows, my band will no longer play with them just to avoid the trouble. And the whole donations thing, yeah they’ve been doing that for years now. None of them really put their own money into anything, so the whole “midwest work ethic” is a joke in itself since I think maybe one of them actually has a job. The lead singer rides a fucking moped for fucks sake. All in all this band just needs to retire. After 10 years of playing the same 10 songs for the same 10 fans, you’d think they’d call it quits. Oh yeah, and did I mention they’re all BIG HEADED ASSHOLES? They’re from Lincoln, ne and think that just because they’ve opened for a couple big names that they OWN the town. Anyone will tell you the same. Hell they’ll tell you themselves, although carrying on a conversation with any of them is like talking to a wall since they’re always fucked up anyways. Fuck Dirtfedd. I for one, will not support a band that shows absolutely no respect for its local brethren.
