I think you probably were not in to Soundgarden…
This sounds like Soundgarden… Tone is a little week on the guitars, but hopefully that is a just a production choice for the beginning of the song or this song was rushed for the soundtrack. Either way, I am confident in their musical chops being there… the vocals on the other hand remain to be seen. Middle aged Chris Cornell has lost some of his range no doubt. So, can he produce well enough on this CD to make me want to scream these new songs in my car until I can no longer talk? We shall see.

Where’s the fucking news about the new album Soundgarden? I appreciate this little clip and all, but it would be much more comforting to know that it was a tease for the new album rather than for some crappy soundtrack.

Its a cool riff but that guitar tone sounds a little thin for Soundgarden. Kim Thayil has a pretty distinct sound and I’m just really not hearing it on this snippet. Curious to hear the full song.

      • Exactly. Perfectly put.
At this point, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that Soundgarden will never come close to reaching the quality of any of their previous output. I don’t like most of Cornell’s solo stuff (Euphoria Morning was damn good, but that’s it), and Audioslave bores the hell out of me… I know neither of those are Soundgarden, but my expectations are pretty damn low by now. Give me new Pearl Jam, STP and Alice In Chains, then I might have some Soundgarden, if I’m still hungry. That said, I hope they prove me dead wrong.

Yeah, I doubt that they have another Superunknown or Ultramega OK in them but I am still hoping that the stars align providing for rock n roll awesomeness nonetheless.
