      • I think you’re talking about Marc Rizzo, who was the guitarist in Ill Nino before he joined Soulfly. Totally different dudes. Totally different bands. Then again, maybe Phil wore a backpack, too, and I’m just out of it. Or maybe you should try listening to the music and not give a fuck how a musician carries his shit around… but, again, that’s just me.

    • Haters gonna hate. :) I like this song, as I’ve liked all of Taproot’s albums. I hate it for the dudes that they put out one subpar rap-rock record (by far the worst in their catalogue, and the band would agree), then got pigeonholed from there on out as a rap rock numetal clone band. All of Taproot’s records from Welcome up to Plead the Fifth, especially the last two, have had some really cool shit on them… trippy, experimental alt-rock that appeals more to the 90′s music fan in me than the kid that was into nu-metal when it was still innovative. I dig this song and I can’t wait to hear The Episodes. Glad these dudes got a label deal that’s put them in a good position to tour and release new tunes. I have my qualms with Victory, but if it works, then it works.

      • blue sky research is easily their best album. the last two have been horrid.

and if i’m not mistaken, the band thinks welcome is their worst album. i have a hard time disagreeing. that’s album’s a fucking mess.

        • If you like Blue Sky Research (coincidentally, it’s my least favorite next to Gift on the whole, but it’s got some awesome stand-out tracks), really try to give Our Long Way Home another chance. Some of their best work is on that album, and a lot of it’s in the same vein as the stuff they did on Blue Sky. As for Plead The Fifth, it wasn’t for everybody, but it had some of the heaviest shit they’ve ever done on it (“Now Rise” is a fuckin’ slammer), and also some of the most creative. “Stolage” is my favorite Taproot song ever. So very well done, reminds me of “Take It”. Glad to see people supporting this comment… I figured I’d be taking shit from every direction.

Not that we should hold these guys to any standards anymore since they decided to be a radio band so long ago, but yeah…..for radio rock not terrible, but definitely typical and boring. And that odd computer sounding voice in that little bridge part towards the end of the song didn’t help anything either.

    • Man, Taproot’s last album was heavier and more screaming involved… I figured they’d continue in that direction. Figured wrong…Back to sub par mainstream releases from them…

They will be back to that dont worry. They wrote this album right after blue sky research. Took them 2 weeks to write the whole thing. It was a concept album from the start. They decided to hold on to it and released our long road home instead. Than came plead the fifth which I loved and now the episodes. I really cant believe some of the music thats gets praised on here but this just gets trashed. I guess not enough screams and dun dun da da da dun dun dun.

“They wrote this album right after blue sky research.”

Is that really true? Where is this info coming from?

        • I’m also curious about where this info came from. Doesn’t sound like something a band with an iffy future could afford to do… write a record then sit on it. Especially after Blue Sky Research and the shit they took from their label. I’m not saying this isn’t true, I’d just be interested to know where you heard it.

Don’t understand the bashing. Back in the day these guys were poster boys for the kind of music thePRP pushed. Even if you don’t like the music anymore, you have to at least appreciate their work ethic and their live show, which always delivers. There are far worse bands that deserve the bashing. Don’t wanna be all Chris Crocker up in this bitch, but LEAVE TAPROOT ALONE!

I totally see your point, dude. I LOVED Taproot ten years ago. And they did deliver. And there are far worse bands. But the fact that they are so dull and radio now has got to unfortunately be recognized.

Things I was reminded of when listening to this song: milk, the color beige, Amish people, rice cakes, Ben Stein’s voice, Eeyore’s voice, plain oatmeal, white socks and PBS pledge drives.

    • This is a far cry from Something More Than Nothing, Mentobe, and Gift. It’s not the worst radio friendly rock song I’ve heard but it just lacks the emotion the band had in their beginning.

        • Only when we’re synching it up with Taproot albums, kinda like Wizard of Oz and Dark Side of the Moon. Rumor has it Mike DeWolf came up with all his guitar parts while watching a lot of gay porn. He would mimic his strumming pattern with each anal thrust he saw.

        • nothing, allichs. that why we sync that shit up with taproot albums. it only seems fitting. it was either some ricky martin or taproot and we determined taproot was more gay that ricky martin. now richard marx, thats a different story.
