Revolver Announce 2012 “Golden Gods Awards” Ceremony & Nominees

Prices to attend the ceremonies range from $39.50 to $750 — the latter being for the “Golden God Package“. More details on how you can attend, should you be able to forgive the publication for this and this, can be found at Goldengodsawards.com.

Meanwhile, voting for the awards is now underway via the aforementioned site. You can find a full list of the nominees below; and know that I made it to page 3 of the voting before I was stopped by a lack of a ‘none of the above’ option.

That ‘Best Vocalist’ list is fucking atrocious.
That ‘Most Dedicated Fan” list is fucking atrocious
Munky and Fieldy for “Riff Lord’ and “Best Bassist”..they didnt even play shit on that new record.
You can clearly see who Revolver takes dick in the mouth from by looking at these lists.
And I have NEVER once in my life looked at Dirk Nowitzki and thought..”You know, he’s pretty metal for being a basketball player”

    • Holyshit, where to start? Ministry for best comeback? Doesn’t the album and subsequent tour have to kinda take place first? Tool for best live band? So the year must not factor in at all for that since Tool barely played out at all in 2011. They should just call this the Grammy Gods Award because it’s just as fucking clueless.

Man, does Five Finger Death Punch have to be nominated in every category? That band is a fucking abortion. Here’s my list not of who should win, but who’s the biggest joke of a nomination and likely will, in most cases, take home the cheese.

Best Guitarist, presented by Epiphone: (TIE, ALL WALKING JOKES)
Jinxx and Jake Pitts (Black Veil Brides)
Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook (Five Finger Death Punch)

Best Drummer, presented by Drum Workshop:
Jeremy Spencer (Five Finger Death Punch)

Best Vocalist, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink: (6-WAY TIE, ALL COMPLETELY FORGETTABLE)

Album of the Year, presented by Marshall Amplification: (LOT OF APATHY HERE, WHERE’S MACHINE HEAD AND MASTODON?)

      Evanescence, Evanescence
Five Finger Death Punch, American Capitalist
      Korn, The Path of Totality

Best Live Band, presented by Samson/Zoom:

Guns N’ Roses (DON’T YOU HAVE TO PLAY/FINISH A GIG TO BE THE BEST?)
Seether (YOU SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO SOLO HEADLINE AN ARENA)

Most Metal Athlete: (WHY REVOLVER, WHY?)

Comeback of the Year, presented by Eagle Rock Entertainment:

Evanescence (WHERE’D THEY GO? I NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO MISS ‘EM)

Riff Lord: (SERIOUS WITH THIS SHIT? HAS HE EVEN LEARNED TO SOLO?)

      Munky (Korn)

Paul Gray Best Bassist, presented by Dean Markley: (LET’S GIVE IT TO THE 10 YEAR OLD FOR GOOD PR)

      Wolfgang Van Halen (Van Halen)

Best International Band, presented by Musicians Institute: (THE FIRST CATEGORY I GOT NO KNOCKS ON)

Most Dedicated Fans: (TRANSLATION: BAND REQUIRING THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF DEFENSE FOR ENDORSING IN ANY WAY)

i don’t like to talk shit on much but for a metal awards show there is not a lot of variety here, not to mention a good amount of the nominees don’t belong where they are. It’s like they only put up the names that people will easily recognize, with no regard for the rest of the metal scene. Disappointing.

    • Holy shit, what a joke. I haven’t read Revolver in years, but I remember a time when that magazine actually wrote about cool shit from time to time. Two of my all-time favorite bands, Coliseum and Cursed, I found out about years ago in Revolver. Now it just seems like they’re aimed at the fuckin’ Hit Parader crowd, and it’s pathetic. Hard to sell magazines in the digital age? Just pander to tools and assholes. Fucking gross.

        • I don’t have a subscription, but if I see it on a rack somewhere, I’ll look through it. There’s some parts of Decibel that are a little too hipster-ish for my taste. Like, if you’re in a post-metalshoegazecrust band and you get a record reviewed in Decibel, you’re getting killer marks for sure. I like my share of that shit, but I don’t like all of it and it’s not the kind of thing I’m constantly craving more of. I’ve got a lot of everyman tendencies, too. By and large, “deathcore” is pretty fucking tired, but some of those bands put out shit that I think is pretty well done. I Declare War’s last album is an example, and that band wouldn’t get a fair shake in Decibel for all the ad space in the world. So it’s up in the air, man. But thanks for the suggestion.
