Iron Maiden Announce Summer North American Tour With Alice Cooper & Coheed And Cambria

Iron Maiden will tour throughout North America this summer with Alice Cooper and Coheed And Cambria appearing on select legs of the trek. Dubbed the “Maiden England World Tour“, the shows will mirror the the production and content of their 1988 “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son World Tour” — which was immortalized on their “Maiden England” 1989 live video.

Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson had the following to say about the upcoming tour:

“We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited – with many other surprises!

Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England, including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favourites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can’t wait to get started in Charlotte.”

    • I hope someone eggs them on stage for skipping out on nearly 500 miles of territory between Philly and Illinois. Pittsburgh or even Cleveland would’ve been nice.

When are bands going to realize Coheed and Cambria is not an attractive opening act? I think they hear “Welcome Home”, which is an epic tune on its own, and don’t realize that the rest of their material is a far cry from the awesomeness concentrated into that ONE song. And yes, I’ve tried getting into their other material, how could you not when you hear how killer that tune is? It’s simply peerless among the rest of their catalog. Also, I can say their show is unimpressive as I saw them open for Slipknot, following Trivium who destroyed them. It was a poor choice to open with their best song, I was bored in ten minutes.

      • Welcome Home is a great song, but certainly not their best. I didn’t care for them much when I first heard their first album, but they eventually grew on me and now I love them – seeing them live helped. One of the best live bands I’ve ever seen.

Check-out: Gravemakers and Gunslingers, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, The Crowing, Guns of Summer, No World For Tomorrow, Everything Evil, Delirium Trigger, Devil in Jersey City, etc. I’m also a huge fan of their slower stuff – The Light & The Glass, Pearl of the Stars, etc.

YES!!! bucket list of bands I’ve never seen: mark off Iron Maiden!
Even though it will be very cool to see Alice Cooper, I’d prefer Coheed & Cambria.

      • I saw Alice Cooper with Ace Frehley this past summer at DTE, the place was (of course) absolutely packed. I saw Incubus there a few days before and there had to have been about 1,000 more people for AC. Great stage show, and he can still bring it. I’m interested in checking this out as I’ve never seen Maiden, wanted to catch them on their last tour with Dream Theater but missed it.
