Matt DeVries Leaves Six Feet Under

Matt DeVries (ex-Chimaira) has exited Six Feet Under. DeVries joined the band last year as their touring bassist.

The following press release was issued on the matter:

Matt DeVries (ex- Chimaira), who came on board as SIX FEET UNDER‘s touring bassist in 2011, has decided to depart the brutality laden death metal act to pursue other musical endeavors. Details on who will be stepping in as the permanent bassist will be announced in the coming months.”

While perhaps not entirely unrelated, Six Feet Under recently announced (in their best David Draiman impression) the cancellation of their Central and South American touring plans, stating:

“OUR APOLIGIES TO OUR FANS IN SOUTH/CENTRAL AMERICA.. OUR RECENTLY RESCHEDULED TOUR HAS BEEN CANCELED.WE WILL HOPEFULLY RESCHEDULE WITH A NEW PROMOTION COMPANY THIS YEAR FOR A FULL BLOWN TOUR AND A GREAT TOURING PACKAGE. MORE INFO IN THE MONTHS TO COME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT SEE YOU ALL VERY SOON.”

Good thing Six Feet Under is going to reschedule the rescheduled dates to another time, which they will undoubtedly reschedule. This band has been canceling shows since before canceling shows was invented. The next time they book a tour they should just have an asterisk next to every date saying, “This will most likely be canceled”.

Drove 2 hours to see them in 2001 and they didn’t show up to the venue. Still bitter,
