Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) recently shed some light on Dave Grohl‘s (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) forthcoming mystery project. Apparently Grohl has been doing an audio documentary of sorts regarding the studio equipment once housed at the legendary Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA.
Grohl has been recruiting various artists who recorded influential albums with the gear and is having them once again track new songs with it. Taylor‘s collaboration with Grohl in particular will also feature Cheap Trick‘s Rick Nielsen. Butch Vig was also involved with the session, though it was not specified if he was producing or playing.
More on the project can be found in a new interview with Taylor below, while other guests who have contributed to the project include Stephen Pearcy and Warren DeMartini of Ratt and Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon.
