Chimaira have digitally released a free “Age Of Hell” remix EP online over at Multiupload.com. In addition to featuring some bonus images and what looks to be teaser footage of their rumored new guitarist (hint — recent free agent/former labelmate,) the effort sports the following track listing:

I think it’s time to retire the Chimaira name. They are now a new band featuring Mark Hunter of Chimaira and that’s fine. Embrace the change. If it’s a nostalgia thing, there’s nothing stopping Mark from doing a few Chimaira covers live. Continuing Chimaira at this point just seems inauthentic.
Tell that to lynyrd skynyrd, KISS, smashing pumpkins, GNR…. old habits die hard!
I wish I could. Add Sepultura and Helmet to the list as well.
Maylene & The Sons of Disaster too – Dallas is the only founding member, let alone the only member to appear on the first two albums. I still consider this iteration to be Maylene though, they sound spot-on live.
It’s probably more of a business decision than anything else. Chimaira already has a fan base and is known in the metal scene so he probably wants to keep the name for brand recognition. I am really curious why everyone decided to jump ship at about the same time though.

I don’t care enough to download this to find out, and I haven’t really been into these guys since The Impossibility of Reason, but who’s the “rumored new guitarist”?
