Rage Against The Machine’s Zack de la Rocha Releases Poem Supporting “Occupy Movement”
Rage Against The Machine/One Day As A Lion frontman Zack de la Rocha has broken his ever-present silence to release a poem supporting the current “Occupy Movement” going on around the world.
The following message was posted over at Rage Against The Machine‘s official website, Ratm.com, yesterday, November 16th:
“This poem is dedicated to the Occupy movement whose courage is changing the world. Stay Strong. We are Winning.
– ZackThe beginning spills through city veins
Into the arteries
And under powers poison clouds
We move like the shadows
Through the alley ways
Through nightmares bought and sold as dreams
Through barren factories
Through boarded schools
Through rotting fields
Through the burning doors of the past
Through imaginations exploding
To break the curfews in our mindsOur actions awaken dreams of actions multiplied
A restless fury
Once buried like burning embers
Left alone to smolder
But together stacked under the walls of a dying order
All sparks are counted
Calloused hands raised in silence
Over the bonfire of hope unincorporated
It’s flame restores tomorrows meaning
Across the graveyards of hollow promises
As gold dipped vultures pick at what is left of our denialAnd the youngest among us
Stare at us stoned like eyes determined
And say
Death for us may come early
Cause dignity has no price
At the corner of now and nowhere
Anywhere
Everywhere
Tomorrow is calling
Tomorrow is callingDo not be afraid”

Good to see Zack show back up…I dug the poem…you know what would be cool tho…if he actually recorded the motherfucker with the Rage boys. Occupy a studio.
“Occupy a studio” hahaha, this shit is gold. Thumbs up.
I always dream of a new RATM album ;__;
Fuck poems, make it a Rage song.
I know this isn’t the place to talk politics so I’ll try to be brief. That rich cocksucker and all of the other rich cocksuckers who support this violent, anarchist movement are nothing but hypocrites.
The End
The movement isn’t violent, the police are. Like when that Oakland cop intentionally shot a peaceful protester (who happened to be a veteran) in the head with a can of gas. And anarchist? Who is trying to overthrow a government here? That’s obviously not the goal. And if a rich person supports this, it hardly makes them a hypocrite. Believe it or not, some wealthy people understand how wealth distribution within American capitalism works, which is why who see people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett giving away their fortunes. Man, some people can’t grasp even the most basic concepts. Turn off Fox News and join reality.
Your kidding right? I forgot witch state(I think it was New York) food stands were giving food for free to support the Occupy guys, they gave all the free stuff they could give and then started charging, the protesters got so mad they started desecrate the stands, pissing on the carts and shit, I agree they have good intentions, but I’ll follow the bandwagon once they get a representative, one who knows what their talking about.
Zack is a punk bitch. Stupid poem to go with a stupid movement. Would expect nothing less from him.
please stop trolling and go away.
“Charlie Sheen” winning?
3 years of creative writing workshop studies say this is bad… real bad. putrid bad. trash bad.

eh, its ok, but id kill to hear it in a new rage song.
Rose are red
Violets are blue
Another RATM album?
Fuck yeah! How about 2!?
Jesus, this guy really thinks the world of himself, huh?
You guys are a mess lol Zach is coming out again in a time when this nation needs it the most. I’m sure he doesn’t boast about being rich. In all actuality he is probably making it like everyone else who actually wants to work. A new RATM would come at a perfect time in this nations turmoil. Most of us just want hand outs from the government. He wants to FIX the government instead of whining and bitchingi about it at least he actually does something about it instead of standing amongst the crowd of on-lookers with desperation in their eyes. I commend him and his works for the past 2 decades.
people are just stupid, and they’re trying to get a rise out of people who are for the movement. These are the same people who think the system still works and caters to them, which is a total flaw in judgement. The same people who think they have no chance of being laid off, or fired. The funny thing is, who will they go to when they don’t have a job? They don’t realize that people make mistakes, or have flaws, which is funny because they’re the most flawed human beings on the planet.
This isn’t a “religous movement news site” so you all hush. Now for a comment regarding the “poem” and the “artist”:
Makes me glad he’s not releasing Rage songs. This would of been terrible.
#WeMissRATM
H…blue balls, you and your thoughts rock! the occupy movement also rocks. people need to join that shit. but don’t go there and dress dumb and act like assholes. wear a suit and get some knowledge before hand in case a camera happens to be put in your face. our government (aka the senate republicans) needs to know that working class people are mad, not just wanna a few “wish I was a hippy” types. and what better event for Zach to show back up? but yeah, I do wish he had brought RATM boyz along for the ride.
Another rich guy who thinks the system is unjust, news at 11.
@will: The biggest beneficiaries of campaign contributions and other political support by the financial industry, in recent years up to the present, have been Democrats. Big Business and Big Banking are very friendly with Big Government. Republicans can be dirty power-loving bastards too, but it’s no surprise to me that many of the same pols that enabled and encouraged destructive financial shenanigans are now cheering on OWS to deflect attention and blame for themselves – nay, to cast themselves as heroic fixers with more power to gain. Next year is an election year with a LOT to lose for a certain party.
@Honolulu: We’re verging on semantics here, but there are different kinds of “capitalism.” Corporatist cronyism, which we’ve been wallowing in for some time, and truly free markets (with a Constitutional rule of law, of course). In the latter, wealth is not “distributed” by anyone TO anyone because we’re free to generate it from our own risk and/or labor. Sadly, we’re stuck with the former until people like OWS get a clue and realize that the institutions they claim to despise would have far less monopolistic power without the meddling of the STATE. We need “Occupy D.C.”
And no, I’m not a Fox News viewer. I’m not even a Republican. I just know what I read, and understand and honor history.
omfg so lame, that poem was simply written during a 2minute 30second “creative burst” much like most of the contrived sophmoric lyrics off battle of los angeles, just go away or come back and join rage again to keep the poor rage fans happy especially since they still try to keep hope alive and your music relevant, but their cause is usually drowned out by the sound of yawning, you guys are a flickering flame and a tired cause, but theres still hope maybe you can open for icp on the next gathering of the juggalos tour ya know really make a difference, or just do what scott stapp did and record a song for your favorite baseball team bahahahahahahahahahahaahaaaaa
@Viking. hello dude. I agree the party I favor has many demons. However, I believe greed is the problem we face, but when I get a chance to bash those I dislike, sometimes I can’t hold back. I dig the occupy effort. I think it’s good to watch/participate in citizens asking for a bigger say in our government.
The real answer to our problems is a Henry Rollins/Jello Biafra ticket in 2012!
