Sumerian Records Speak On Abandoning Spotify
Sumerian Records have taken to their Twitter to address some recent criticism leveled at them for pulling much of their roster from the streaming music service, Spotify. The label, whose artists include Asking Alexandria, Born Of Osiris, etc., offered the following response:
“we rather be able to send our bands around the world on tour, make music videos and continue to support their careers and livelihood. Go to youTube if you want to hear all music. We are all about exposure but only major labels have equity in spotify. all us metal labels will join forces and make our own so that our artists can still eat.”
Could such a union be wishful thinking or a glimpse into the future? Either way, you can find some more insight into Sumerian‘s reasoning via Metal Sucks.

Cool. I think. I actually have no idea what Spotify is, nor do I give a shit.
I don’t blame the guy. Sounds like the labels have to pay to have their rosters on Spotify and Sumarian can’t swing it. This label cares about their artists.
On their Wiki page it says it goes to 10 hours a month after 6 months with an account…….. I’ll stick with Pandora and lately Slack Radio, thanks.
Google Music all the way. I much prefer the entirety of my own music collection, thank you. If I’m looking to try and find new stuff, then I’ll seek out specific bands that people have recommended to me or that I read about on here, typically using Pure Volume.
