Gwar Perform Unmasked In Portland, OR In Tribute To Fallen Guitarist
Gwar‘s November 09th show in Portland, Oregon turned out to be a rather emotional affair. The band paid tribute to fallen guitarist Cory Smoot (aka Flattus Maximus) during their performance onstage. The impromptu move saw the group play a handful of songs while unmasked, with Smoot‘s guitar being held in the air during a particularly moving moment.
Fan-filmed footage of that can be found below, while the band checked in via their Facebook last night (November 12th) with the following announcement:
“Sorry shut down for a couple. The service was beautiful, we are are back in L.A., and are READY TO ROCK FOR CORY. There will be an announcement early next week concerning the Smoot Family Fund, and the various memorials that will be held in his honor. Hang in there GWAR family, and sorry to Frisco and Medford.”

hot damn! they totally stripped down! i know what brockie looks like but it’s weird actually seeing him w/o the oderus outfit on…
They should let Mark from Empire Records join the band, he does play a mean guitar
apparently one person has never seen Empire Records
at least one…
I think people just go around giving everything a thumbs down. It seems like every comment that is in support of anything gets a thumbs down.
It’s a shame that he must die.
I thought GWAR played all they’re encores unmasked? Either way, it’s pretty cool. Though hearing Oderus voice without the face is kind of unnerving.
