What a piece of trash. I really hope there is better material than this on the rest of the record otherwise it’s going to be a giant waste of time.
I cant wait to get this album. It may not be super techy, or have djent, or single note breakdowns, but Machine Head continues to write prolific epic music. Burn My Eyes, The More Things Change, Through The Ashes of Empires, and The Blackening were all incredible albums. Unto the Locust seems to be following the same trend. Good things!
Crap.
man the song progression on this is REALLY forced
The whole album sounds forced. Too bad I can’t force myself to find even one decent nugget of music on it.
and i suppose the deftones music is writhe with original song composition and dynamics……1 trick pony
the nonexistent transition at 3:10 is really bad, but apart from that I like the song.
I was at my friend’s house and this song came on. “Europe!” she said.
I’ve always loved Machine Head’s music, every album; but their videos…. damn!
Can’t anybody in their camp ‘open up their eyes’ before they ‘pour the salt in the wound’ by adding another “concept” video to their back catalogue? More than one person must’ve given the green light for this. What is the line of command?
How about a 16mm footage of them rocking it in a backyard with their wives making BBQ and their kids playing in a inflatable water slide?
Maybe “Who We Are” could be the next single?!
What is the name of the song again? Oh ok, Locust. I didn’t get it when I was watching this video. This piece of fine art was too subtle for me. But, for my defense, I almost got it when I saw all these bugs flying out of Mr Flynn’s mouth (at 5:10)… Or maybe he was regurgitating, who knows?
This, like every other MH song I’ve heard, does nothing for me.
They find a trend that people like, and flog it like a dead horse. I never “got” The Blackening, and this seems to ape complexity for complexity’s sake. I’m with the majority of the above comments.
The Blackening was fucking horrible. I used to be a big MH fan, I even enjoyed their nu-metal albums. But Through The Ashes of Empires was a joke, and The Blackening some kind of proggy soft rock album. Why people love it so much, I cannot fathom.
you’re an idiot i think your opinion makes that more than apparent
agree with nicky
No, I just have a different take on it. A lot of people like The Blackening, I think it sucks. Get over the fact that people have differing opinions. Children. And Deftones a one trick pony? Get a fucking pair of ears, mate. And a clue. MH fans…
I respect the opinion of not liking this album, or the last few, just dont agree with it. The hate on the Deftones is completely absurd though, as they are quite dynamic, and in my opinion have just gotten better through the years. Personally, i think the last 3 albums Machine Head has put out has shown a maturity in song writing, and at the same time adherence to what is “trendy.” Unfortunately, when you are on a larger label, the creative process can be tampered with. Either way, I think Unto the Locust was another great chapter in the Machine Head story. To each their own, i’ll take a disagreement over a Machine Head album anyday over another post about Frankie from Emmure. Talk about a one trick pony.
I love how whenever someone trashes someone else’s favorite band, Deftones are thrown under the bus each and every time. As if Deftones are the only band anyone here listens to…
Right? Aggro can’t help that his mother treated him like a slinky when he was a baby. Machine Head ftw
If you could read, you’d read that I’m disagreeing with the post which slammed deftones.
