Spineshank Seeking Label For New Album
Spineshank are seeking a label for their new album “Anger Denial Acceptance“. The bands own Mike Sarkisyan and Tommy Decker produced the outing with Mike Plotnikoff (Papa Roach, Buckcherry) handling the mixing duties.
The following press release was issued on the effort:
“Grammy-nominated alternative metal band SPINESHANK, known for selling hundreds of thousands of records internationally and touring with Slipknot, System of a Down, Sepultura, Disturbed and more, are set to release their upcoming album, Anger Denial Acceptance next year, but are first looking for a new record label to call home. The record will be the fourth album from the Los Angeles natives, and is a testament to the hard work ethic that the band has been known for since the inception of SPINESHANK in the late 1990’s.
After releasing three successful albums (Strictly Diesel, The Height Of Callousness, and Self-Destructive Pattern), performing on countless world tours (including appearances on Ozzfest and the Download Festival), and a Grammy nomination in 2004, the band went on a hiatus.
Currently re-grouped, the band is ready to kick their new music into high gear in 2012. Produced by Mike Sarkisyan and Tommy Decker and mixed by Mike Plotnikoff (Papa Roach, Buckcherry), Anger Denial Acceptance promises to surpass everyone’s expectation of what SPINESHANK is capable of.
“The songs on this record are more personal than anything we’ve ever done, and I think it shows when we play them live,” states drummer Tommy Decker. “This is our most varied and challenging record yet, and I can’t wait to get out there and bring these new songs to life.”
“We’re not interested in living in the past, we want to push forward,” adds guitarist Mike Sarkisyan. “We just finished the best record of our careers and we’re really excited to get it out there.”
The band currently have the following dates mapped out:

Height of Callousness was a good album. New Disease remains a good song.
Height of Callousness was a great album – I love the harsh electronics all over it!
strictly diesel was my shit… i put that and height of callousness on last week… still bangs pretty good in the car… light a spliff and throw on synthetic and youre in for a good time
While My Guitar Gently Weeps is still the best beatles cover i’ve ever heard. Many a slow dance to that at the ol soc hop.
Try Thrice – “Helter Skelter”
I wouldn’t mind hearing this, not at all.
This reminds me of being 12 years old and listening to “heavy music.” Haha, funny how if I had listened to Nile, Mastodon, Eyehategod, Melvins, or any other of the wide arrange of music I listen to today back at that age, I would probably call it “a bunch of gay shit.” However, if I listened to Spineshank now without ever listening to them at that age, I would call it “a bunch of gay shit.” As much as this band probably sucks, it’s interesting to see how different music transitions people into other music. I will always have a soft spot for the “gay shit” that led me into the “good shit.” Agreeing with everyone above me, I can still stick “The Height of Callousness” into my CD player and rock out like I’m 12 again. Hey, at least I had hair back then.
You’re bald by 20?
24 since that CD came out in 2000. Maybe, I’m off by a year of when I was listening to this. And, yes, my hair is thinning. Perhaps I should have added the word “thick” in my initial comment. However, I wasn’t aware at the time that some dick was so intrigued by my comment that he would respond forgetting that the current year is 2011, not 2008.
so nymets… you’re bald by 24?

Height of Callousness was badass. It’ll be interesting to see where these guys end up label-wise with the climate of “heavy” music these days. No manorexia, no pre-balding comb-overs, no white belts, and they may or may not have massive gaping ear tunnel holes… but if they can still put on a show like the one I saw them at in 2001, they’ll end up just fine. Career longevity as a metal musician in 2011… here’s hoping.
I saw Spineshank last year, they rocked pretty hard! They still know how to put on a great show and the new stuff was very good. It was funny though… My buddy whom I went to the show with, yelled, “SILENT CIVILIAN” a couple of times inbetween songs. They played their final song and Santos closed with “Thank you! We are Silent Civilia… I mean, Spineshank. Thank you!” The look on the rest of the members’ faces was priceless.
Reminds me of a heavier version of Econoline Crush. I think these guys were on the soundtrack for a few video games back in the day.
To hell with labels. Put it out yourselves. In this day and age I just don’t see how that traditional model makes sends. “Labels” should become distributors.
