Me too. It’s unintentional comedy which is always best. That spoken word gibberish reminded me of the William Shatner album. That WAS intentionally funny.

Exactly, I just pictured one of Shatner’s comedy spoken word albums with a metal backdrop. Way too cheesy to be taken remotely serious.

I thought, although WAAAAY better than their output of the previous 20 years, Death Magnetic was kind of laughable in a way. But this is an embarrassment. Quality control or retire!

I was talking about Death Magnetic. See above. Different people find different things funny. Just like different people like different kinds of music. They spent 20 years reinventing themselves and ‘came back’ with quite possibly a parody of their ’80s material. What you consider solid I consider a laughable throwback because they knew they were alienating fans. Hell, I know people who are in their 60′s and 70′s who rock out to Load and onward. Good for them. They could do worse….

I agree. DM was laughable. While still better then anything after the Black Album, but still very laughable.

I will go back to my original comment (which I caught shit on here for) back when theprp first posted news about this collaboration. “Are we supposed to say “cool”? Metallica hasn’t put out a good album since Puppets.” Can you really judge a full album based on a 90 second sample? In this case, it’s clear that this collaboration is going to be lame as hell. I hope it alienates Metallica fans that buy this expecting to hear their beloved favorite “metal” band. Sounds like the new Megadeth may top this one on the charts. Hope to hell anyway…..

it is not bad. the title reads clearly lou reed & metallica. has anyone ever heard velvet underground? what were people expecting, lou to scream during frantic breakdowns and perhaps a “cool” keyboard mosh solo?

I liked the Killers song “Tranquilize” with Lou Reed and thought he did a great job. He didn’t scream OR do spoken word; he actually was a singer.
