Lacuna Coil Set January Release Date For “Dark Adrenaline”

Lacuna Coil have officially set a January 24th North American release date through Century Media for their new Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Bullet For My Valentine) produced album “Dark Adrenaline“. The song “Trip The Darkness” will serve as the first single from the release and will impact at radio on October 10th. Commenting on the album band frontwoman Cristina Scabbia offered:

“As some of you know, the release for DARK ADRENALINE was postponed a bit…and this made me even more nervous because I had to wait even more to spit it out! I am so thrilled I can finally say something about this album – ha! I simply love it. I feel this is the best work we have ever done, and it absolutely captures the essence of who we are. The atmosphere of the record will make a lot of old-school fans very happy, and the newer fans will enjoy the vibrant energy and the dark blood running through the songs. I really believe the DARK ADRENALINE will wake you up. Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to enjoy the trip!”

A “big tour announcement” is being promised in the coming weeks, while the track listing for “Dark Adrenaline” can be seen below:

01 – “Trip The Darkness
02 – “Against You
03 – “Kill the Light

    • I feel like this band took a sheer plummet into the mundane and lifeless realm of bands such as Incubus, My Darkest Days, and Sevendust. Comalies and Karmacode are two records I spin on the regular, granted at some times more than others, but that last piece of crap was barely listenable. I practically counted the days to that record for over a year and was sorely disappointed. I like the fact that she’s mentioning the atmospheric sound for the old school fans, but I won’t be so easily psyched for this album. Of particular concern is the slew of tracks mentioning darkness, to say nothing of the album title, which must be one of the least compelling album titles I’ve ever heard. Of particular interest is the cover of “Losing My Religion” (at least I assume it’s a cover) which, if done right and not identical measure for measure and consisting of nothing but power/barre chords and thereby completely sucking away the original song’s soul (deep breath), could be very appealing. I’m thinking in terms of HIM’s “Wicked Game” as opposed to Marilyn Manson’s “Personal Jesus”.

And yes, I realize how ironic it is that I spent about fifteen minutes composing an extraneously long comment about how unenthusiastic I am about the direction of this band. A slow news day, I guess.

    • Funny, I much preferred Shallow Life over Karmacode. I actually felt it had more of the old school atmosphere than Karmacode’s more modern crunch. Matter of fact, I was pretty surprised to find how many people hate it. Good catchy record.
