Rage Against The Machine Guitarist Comments On “First Show” Footage

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello recently discussed the footage of the bands first official show that was circulating a week or two back. Speaking with Rock Sound, he offered:

“I have seen a bit of clip and I have a full recollection of that show. It was actually the first time we played in front of a public audience, we had done one show previously but that was a living room party so that filmed footage still qualifies as our first ‘proper’ show.

I remember when we started playing there was no one in the audience, it was just people walking back and forward on the way to lunch at Cal State Northridge. After an hour long performance we won over a couple of headbangers, which was a victory for us at that point in our careers!”

    • I was in high school when their first album came out and I dug it! It was different and something I hadn’t heard before. But after a year or so I was kinda over it. I’ve tried going back to it but I can’t feel it anymore, not sure why. However, I wasn’t a fan of anything after that first record, and I could really care less now!

Our remember my old bands first real show. We got drunk backstage on a bottle of Aftershock we snuck in. We played our asses off to the audience in a small redneck southern ga bar. The last song we played we covered Deftones “Headup”. It was hilarious how all of the redneck drunks got up and started dancing around!!
