TesseracT Reveal New Frontman
TesseracT have parted ways with their vocalist Daniel Tompkins and have replaced him with Elliot Coleman of Sky Eats Airplane fame. Essentially confirming the news, the band have since updated their Facebook info to reflect the changes.
An official statement is expected tomorrow with the group offering the following:
“Seeing as our previous post about this got lost in the ether, we’ll re-post. Our label and us will make an official announcement about this on TUESDAY. Sorry guys, as its so important we have to do these things properly and take our time to make sure our true thoughts and feelings are conveyed correctly. Thank you for all your wonderful messages of support and good will. Much Love, TesseracT“

ugh, not much on Tesseract but I HATE Elliot Coleman’s voice, no idea how anyone could possibly like it. OMNOM was a waste of good Bulb songs for that reason, and now this…. seriously, the guy can’t sing in tune to save his life. Obnoxious voice with awful intonation.
I’ve been watching the fall-out from this on Tesseract’s Facebook page since the Milton Keynes gig with a mixture of horror and bemusement.
Some metal fans can be a big bunch of fucking cry-babies when they don’t get things their way, can’t they? Suck it up, you big bunch of girls. Bands exist because THEY want to, not because YOU want them to.
I like Tesseract, but I am supremely indifferent to precisely which individuals constitute the band. I’m going to see them at the Garage in a couple of weeks, and think it’s wise to reserve judgement at least until then, if not until they actually write and record some new material.
It’s not like any of their previous singers were great, but this guy is just awful. Needs to give up singing and stick to playing the bass.
It is hard to judge someone live, cause ive seen video of Tesseract live and it wasnt anything special…but One is my favorite album to come out in a while. Tompkins is special, and did a wonderful job on this album. I’ll really have to judge it based on when i see them in October, or when anything official is released…but Elliot has large shoes to fill, and hopefully things get better….
What is it with these “djent” bands all having fucking pussy ass vocalists?? Doesn’t suit the music at all and ruins it. Give me Periphery’s masterful instrumentalist songwriting and Tesseract’s lethal jig-saw riffage minus the fucking estrogen-soaked vocals…please.
Wow…I think we’re hearing the crowd singing over Elliot which is a big part of the problem. Regardless, a major part of Tesseract’s sound and presence is gone with the departure of Daniel. We’ll just have to wait and see how this pans out.
