West Memphis Three Released From Jail, Zao Retire Their WM3 Song
While the metal community at large has been reacting to the release of the West Memphis Three; the opening of their cell doors means that at least one band is closing the door on their West Memphis 3-inspired song.
Zao have announced that their 2002 song “Free The Three” will officially be retired. Speaking via Facebook, the band offered:
“We are officially retiring the song Free The Three, it is no longer needed. Never thought we’d be able to say this.”

I’m glad they’re out finally, but they’re still getting fucked over. The DA basically admitted it’s the fucking witch trials all over again by making them plead guilty in order to be released.
It’s awesome that they’re finally released but it is fucked up that they had to plead guilty of a crime they didn’t commit.
I want to know when they are going to relaunch the investigation, or since they had them plead guilty does that mean the police will not relaunch the investigation. If these guys are indeed innocent, then there has been a killer on the loose for almost 20 years.
That’s exactly the point the courts wanted to make. For life, they’re going to be labelled as murderers just so the police don’t have to admit they’re a bunch of lazy bigots who fucked up.
Police never. Never. Never. Never have to admit that their lazy fuck ups.
I want to know if Zao will ever release something listenable again? Oh, and happy release!
Taking an Alford Plea means the case is closed. No more investigation, no compensation for being wrongly imprisoned. It’s done. Also, none of them can profit off the ordeal, meaning no book deals, no movie rights. Nothing.
Well it was take the Alford, or wait at least a year for a new trial, one they may have lost given that the state has signed confessions from the three of them, weather they be coerced or not.
Zao=one of the worst bands of all time.
still better than ur band, bro
My non-existent bands are all a million times better than Zao. Jesus, fucking Zao. Nice artwork, that’s the one good thing I can say about them.
The Funeral of Aggroculture
I hsve to agree with allichs. Zao is pretty awesome in the fact that they manage to make a different album while maintaining their unique sound. And they manage to be awesome with very limited use of breakdowns which is a plus in my book. But to each his own.
