Emmure frontman Frankie Palmeri recently paid tribute to Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst over his Twitter. To that end he offered:
“@freddurst 13 years ago you changed my life forever.Its because of you I have seen the world. Thank you for being the light that guided me.”
That explains a lot actually.

Second, you all know as well as I do you were rocking out when Limp was in their prime. It’s “cool” to hate on Durst now, but you all loved the first 3 records. Wook has said before, if I recall correctly, he’s neutral on Limp Bizkit. Basically, to respond from a media perspective, any press is good press. With that said, Wook posts articles in which he certainly hopes/knows a ton of negative feedback will result or the complete opposite. Just as with newspapers, magazines, newstations, etc. Notice, it doesn’t say anywhere on this site “appeases everyone”.
Humor like this has been part of theprp’s style since it Pimp Rock Palace, which is to say, for over a decade. If you don’t like it, then maybe you should get your news from somewhere else, rather than expecting wook to conform to the whim of a single upset user. Some of us come here because we love that unique touch to articles. Hell, I even enjoy it when it slamming bands I do listen to.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I don’t know anyone that was still behind LB by the third album, and most in my circles were over them with Significant Other.

And what does the current situation have to do with the first 3 records? Like, if you release 2-3 acceptable albums, you’re immune from sucking in the future, or what? Not actually saying Durst and/or limpbizkit “suck”, or that they “were cool” back then, just arguing against the whole “you liked their early work” excuse. One can do awesome stuff and then release absolute crap, just like they can release 10 crappy albums, and then put out the album of the decade.
And on top of it all, why do we have to respect a band just because “they’re out there trying to make it”? If a band plays regularily and/or release recordings, it means they’re immune from criticism, or what? And the whole “where’s your band” crap – now it’s required that you have a band to criticise other bands? Remember that whenever you talk negativelly about a politician, a tv show, a chain of restaurants or a car model.
(And for the record, Emmure is not exactly my preferred kind of music, but I like some songs by them, so I don’t dislike them, at all, I’m not arguing for or against them – I’m arguing certain kinds of arguments used)

They give away free music and refuse to play in clear channel venues because they can’t draw a crowd big enough to support a such a venue. But you are straying away from the topic of why you feel the need to go and bash other people’s music choices when it has no concern to you. I have an idea, when you see limp or emmure in the title post, just scroll on by, like I do with any bands that I don’t listen to. Or continue to do the shit you do to make yourself feel better about yourself and the underrated, talented, and integrity filled music your listen to.

Also, bands like The Locust have dropped out of shows because they find out the venue is clear channel and will find a better place to play, sometimes for free.
And I guess giving away music for free is probably only for bands that can’t sell records. I’ll pass that on to Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails.
And as much as you may not believe it, alot of bands aren’t craving fame. They make music for the art. It would be pretty easy to just ripoff whatever the hot band of the moment is and make money.

Well I can love a band and also be realistic about things. I know limp isn’t shit in most people’s eyes anymore (in the U.S.). I know Fred can be an asshole. I know they’re not the most talented band (although even many of limp haters will occasionally admit they like the band minus Durst.) I know Fred Durst writes shitty and childish lyrics. But guess what? They are still my favorite band. Why? Because they are FUN. I don’t take them seriously, they don’t take themselves seriously and they make people feel good when they listen to them. There’s really not too many bands out there like that. And I’m not sure why that’s deserving of personal attacks if someone just wants to have a good time listening to a fun band. Obviously if I’m in a serious mood I would throw on some Glassjaw or Deftones but that doesn’t discredit Limps purpose in music, and that is strictly for entertainment and making people feel good.
Mainly they get shit because metal music is generally something to be taken seriously. Sure, you want to enjoy it more than anything. But it’s not something you throw on so you can shake your ass to or get laid to. It’s something to ponder, to get your brain moving, to analyze, to appreciate for its craft. Metal is not a genre for half-assed music fans I’ve come to see. Most self-proclaimed metalheads basically study the genre and are able to appreciate the subtle nuances. There is none of that involved with Limp or Emmure or a lot of the numetal bands back in the day (which admittedly I’m still into a lot of those bands myself).

Atleast Limp knows their place in music, and they seem to have fun doing what they do, and I think they are fully aware of how hated they are, and they enjoy annoying all of us haters just as much as they do pleasing their fans. Emmure / Frankie though, is truly -TRULY- a pretentious dickhead.
I loved the instrumentation on early Limp Bizkit albums and I still listen to Wes Borland’s creative output, but I ALWAYS hated Fred Durst. It always felt like he was holding back a really talented band from getting any respect. So fuck Fred Durst. It may have been his voice and persona that elevated the band (as well as a weird-ss choice for a cover song), but he wasn’t why at least a few people listened to them.
There’s nothing much to love about Emmure though, so fuck that band.

Agreed. Well said sir. Wes Borland is the shit. And while his work with LB is his most well know, its certainly not his best. I advise anyone to check out his band Black Light Burns, and check out his bass playing on the entire album “Heroine” by From First to Last, and on some songs on “Worse Than a Fairy Tale” by Drop Dead, Gorgeous. Good stuff.

Their name has fallen down to the dirt because of Durst’s suicidal act during the 03-06 era, but I did love listening to them back in the 90′s and early 2000s. Anyway, although I still kind of like Limp Bizkit, I fuckin’ hate Emmure. They pretty much represent everything that is wrong with heavy music these days. i grew up on sepultura, slayer, obituary, mundane, suffocation etc. i give every album i come across a good listening to and LP 3 $ sounded really good, didn’t really give a shit about lyrical content. no i don’t live in my parents basement, y eah i grew up and got a diploma and now i own a bunch of income properties.. as for my playlist latetly ? Anything from Slayer, TAS, American ME, despised icon, scarlet (wish they were still around) deftones, old man gloom, doom riders, always converge. haven’t really had time to branch out. any recommendations ?
I just think it’s crazy that everyone on here thinks that everyone loved LB at one point.

When I was younger I enjoyed some Nu-Metal, and I had somehow got my hands on Three Dollar Bill Y’all. I liked it, then they ruined it the next year when they released Nookie. As for Emmure, No I NEVER liked them. They have and always will be a broke down rip off version of the Acacia Strain. I’ll stick with AS. I’m also older then 14 now, so they won’t appeal to me, but unfortunately I was about 14 when LB first came out. Children make mistakes.
Obviously not EVERYONE did, but a shit ton more people did than would ever admit it. It’s the same people I remember around me at the show with Metallica that talked so much shit about Limp and then once they hit the stage they would jump up and down and mouth every word of every song. You know they exist, and in droves.
