Mastodon Set September Release Date For “The Hunter”, Official Stream Of “Black Tongue” Available
Mastodon‘s forthcoming album “The Hunter” has officially been slated for a September 27th release date through Reprise. A new song from the effort by the name of “Black Tongue” originally leaked online earlier today (July 25th.) While the stream has since been pulled, you can now officially hear it as backing track to a video which chronicles the creation of the sculpture featured on the cover art of “The Hunter” below.
Meanwhile, “Black Tongue” is now available as a digital single through iTunes. Pre-orders have also officially been launched for a limited edition package of “The Hunter” via the groups website, Mastodonrocks.com. The package will include:
“1. The Hunter Limited Edition Package Includes: CD/DVD housed in digi-pack with an alternative cover
2. 20” x 30” Lenticular Poster featuring the album cover of the standard CD
3. Augmented reality experience by Total Immersion that will contain exclusive content only available to this package (more information coming soon!)
4. Instant download of “Black Tongue”
5. A second download of “Curl Of The Burl,” the first official single from The Hunter as soon as it becomes available”

COMMENTS
You guys need to get out of that Disturbed thread and come and listen to some decent music right here.
Very underwhelming track. As usual, Mastodon have a lot of talent, but little clue what to do with it. Another collection of riffs without a song. Love the basslines though, very Meshuggah-esque.
He only said it was “decent music,” man. Maybe you should stop blaming Mastodon and not get your hopes up!
Is it me or does the song sound a little more accessible to the masses (mostly the distinguishable lyrics/clean singing), which dare I say may be a good move for Mastodon?
I’ll second “decent”. Not bad, but not awesome. Looking forward to hearing the rest.
Better than Disturbed, you bunch of whingers.
It’s solid as fuck. I’m not blown away, but certainly not disappointed either.
and Surly, what the hell is a whinger? Is that like the Aussie version of a wanker?
Well HBB, ‘whinger’ is dervied from ‘whinge’-
-
whinge/(h)winj/
Verb: Complain persistently and in a peevish or irritating way.
Noun: An act of complaining in such a way
-
So, therefore a person can be classified a ‘whinger’.
-
A typical comment would be, “Go have a cry somewhere else, you whinger.”
Like it, I like the part that starts at 1:50. I really loved the last two albums, looking forward to this one,
