    • nice to see them playing something heavier again but this is pretty boring. I didn’t even bother with their last record after chapter v was so dull. Then again, if I heard Dysfunction for the first time today, I would probably think it was boring garbage too. I didn’t know Mushok was capable of a solo like that

Not too impressed with the song, but I’ll definitely give them credit for trying. Listneing to this compelled me to throw in dysfunction after many, many years. I still enjoy it, though it’s their only album I can honestly say that about.

im with blue bawlz. I like the direction, but i’m not really into the song. doesnt even sound like aaron lewis! wtf! and flange effect is so over used in rock music today so it kinda ruided it all for meez :( but i wont give up on the new album because even to this day… Dysfunction is really one of the best alt. metal cd’s EVER! I dont think I played any cd more than I did Dysfunction when I was growing up. maybe Around the Fur and Fear Factory’s Obsolete. good times.

I’m not that surprised ’cause I heard this after hearing their new track on the Transformers OST. I’m just relieved that they’re finally giving a shot at going the right direction after all these years. The new album might be quite alright.

sounds cool, i didnt really get too into dysfunction i think that was around the time i was jamming to slipknot, tool, dog fashion disco(one of the best cds in metal in my opion) and killswitch but i do dig this song, not bad for radio metal~

    • Everything I’ve read hints at this album being heavy. Heavier than Dysfunction. Apparently, Lewis will now use his solo project to focus on the lighter songs and Staind will focus on the heavy. Their other tracks, that I’ve heard, are also heavy and thoroughly enjoyable. Stoked for this.

    • Not bad for Staind and, the solo part is really good.

@ Vujaa really? I get tired of people dissing DFD most people who haven’t heard them or, say i haven’t listen to them since high school I am betting sure as hell have not heard Adultry. One of the best albums to come out in the last ten years.

i had to sit through a set of theirs back in ’01, they were booed off the stage. and the shit in the hat joke was referring to when they incited a riot at a Twiztid show for threatening to shit in his hat and throw it at the crowd because why? they were being booed off the stage. papa roach proteges. so that being said i could give two shits about “Adultery” their existence is a sin.

    • Vujaa first off jugglao’s are fucking ignorant shitheads with no repect for other bands unless a band/preformer is on that shitty ICP label I want to shit in a hat and throw it at them too. Oh, calling DFD Papa roach proteges is like saying Design the skyline are musical genuises.

yea the juggalos threw shit at them. minus the flying objects. they were being booed off the stage everywhere. when i saw them they gave us shit too because we wouldn’t stop yelling at them to get off the stage. they were horrible. this pains me to say this, but … eugh… mushroomhead were more enjoyable at that show than dog fashion disco. and somehow five pointe o were the opening band. such injustice.

Well I’ll be dammed! I am totally in a Dysfunction kinda mood now. Dam that album brings back sooo many good merories. I need to look for it and revisit the record to hold me off till this comes out. I left this band for dead after break the cycle……..fuck, i can’t believe I’m actually excited about a Stained record. Although my 1999 self would not be surprised.

if we’re lucky when they tour the bass player will play his bass hunched over with the bass a half inch from the ground, because there really isn’t a cooler way to play an instrument.

pretty badass, even better than The Bottom from the Transformers soundtracks. and no love for Break the Cycle here? it’s almost just as good as Dysfunction in my opinion.

Not a fan of Break the Cycle allichs. I was a huge fan of dysfunction and then I won a promotional radio copy of Break the Cycle before the release date. I was so excited when I had that shit in my hands. I got to my car, ripped off the cellophane and immediately threw it in the cd player. The first listen was one of the most anticlimactic moments of my life. I whipped the fucker out of my car window and I haven’t payed attention to staind since.

    • Dysfunction was and is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard in my life. Break the Cycle was different, though I loved it. However, the let down for me didn’t come till 14 Shades of Gray……This new album will be amazing though.

    • Dysfunction was awesome, but I still love Tormented the best. Even heavier than dysfunction. Sorta sounds like it was recorded inside of an oil drum though.

Whoa! I must say, the heaps of praise being poured on Dysfunction are a bit much. Don’t get me wrong, I still dig the Hell out of that album, but it’s pretty much just a solid hard-rock record by any standard you hold it to.

The flucuating vocals in this song are annoying, remins me of early taproot. But the actual song itself is a breath of fresh air from them!

    • @ southpaw that’s what I am saying. don’t get the DFD hate by people ethier especially with a amazing album like Adultry. Yes Anarchist of good taste is a awesome cd especialy the song “Vertigo motel” but, AOGT has nothing on Adultry.

    • Dysfunction I can’t listen to that album anymore I tired but, it’s to listen damn too much damn whining on it. like my friend said Staind – Dysfunction is music to slit your wrist to. This new song sounds pretty good for a Nu metal song.

The preview for Not Again is even better. And about time their other guitarist brought some solos in, pity he hasn’t sooner.

DFD are just a Mr Bungle ripoff.
Glad that Staind are going back to the heavy but I don’t know if they can atone for the decade of complete shit they’ve put out, turning their backs on heavy music and releasing one bullshit soft rock album after the next.

    • To Call DFD a Mr. bungle ripp off is ignorant. yes they are inspired by Mr Bungle but DFD took a differant direction with their music as well “Adultery” is damn close or, good as anything Mr. bungle has done. If anybody is a rip off is Incubus but, Everyone here has Inucbus dick shoved in their mouth over their older albums which actually are boring, suck ass and, ripped off Mr. Bungle and, Faith no more poorly.

SICK. About time this band gets back to their roots. Dysfunction is an amazing album. Their bread and butter. Hope they have made an album to rival that one.

    • @adamonfire if you said that to Incubus they would say you were crazy. Mr Bungle was one of Incubus’ early influences and Brandon Boyd’s singing style is a complete rip-off of Patton’s. I’ve put on FNM songs and people thought it was Incubus This is coming from a HUGE Incubus/Brandon Boyd fan, someone who still enjoys every album they put out. The fact is Incubus would not exist without Mr. Bungle, and they would be the first to tell you that.

    • As a matter of fact I got my user name from the Enjoy Incubus EP, Brandon was called Brandon of the Jungle on that EP and I’ve been using it since ’97, first on AOL and on everything else since. So there’s my username origin story. Interesting huh? Point being, while I “Enjoy Incubus” (snare, cymbal) more, they started off as Mr. Bungle wannabes. That’s not even my opinion, it is fact. I met Incubus 3 times, the last time when “Make Yourself” first came out, before they got huge, and they all admitted they worshipped Mr. Bungle and that they were one of the bands that made them want to make music, (not that you can’t tell, especially on the earlier albums, oh and the fact that Brandon sounds EXACTLY LIKE Mike Patton) It’s not being pretentious, it’s fact. It’s like saying Coldplay kicks the shit out of Radiohead.

Someone posted sample of 4 tracks on Youtube.
      01. Not Again 02. Eyes Wide Open 03. Failing 04. Wannabe
I’m feelin’ a little iffy after hearing them, because it kinda sounds like they’re just repeating the same melodic stuff that’s been done to death on their previous albums, and just pretending to be heavy by adding some growling/screaming parts in-between.
The good thing is though, that all 4 tracks sound quite different from one another(one having a heavy hard rock vibe, two having typical Staind/semi-Alice in Chains quality and one being rap-rock)and the whole album might be interesting and worthwhile to listen to.
I’m pretty curious about how others might feel after listening to these samples.
