Umm…last time I checked, Hot Topic was pretty fucking lame. Why are these guys endorsing them? What happened to balls in heavy metal? These days it’s just a bunch of morons screaming for the sake of screaming. I need more old school Sepultura and White Zombie. None of this nonsense.

Sure, they seem like complete tools and I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Hot Topic either, but I can’t be overly concerned if a band looks “preppy.” If I was, I wouldn’t have ever given Parkway Drive a chance. Shit, I would have written off DEP simply because Greg looks like a total bro. Not that I’m defending this band or anything. I’ve never really heard shit from them and this video didn’t exactly peak my interest.

i’d personally rather a band look like someone that can get a job than, say, design the skyline. let the music speak for itself rather than “HEY LOOK AT US!!! SERIOUSLY!!!! LOOK!!!!!”

also, put any band that has been together for a while in front of a camera and the odds of them acting like what people perceive as douchey is kind of high, because it’s all years of inside jokes and actions that make each other laugh, not really concerned for whoever sees the video.

either way, i hope the new album kicks ass, because this is one of about 5 new bands that i’ve heard since 2003 or so that doesn’t completely suck.

      /jaded rambling

    • If you let a band walking into a Hot Topic over run the fact the rock fuckin heavy, you are an idiot. The way they look has nothing to do with the sound. Leveler is their best, and heaviest effort to date. Judging a band on anything but sound is the dumbest shit I have ever heard.

Parkway Drive, preppy? They play shows in flip-flops and gym shorts. ABR is one of the most boring bands I’ve seen live, and their Jesus shit is annoying. Fuck them.

    • @Noble Shut your mouth. All that Jesus talk is the biggest pile of horse shit. Nobody can resurrect themselves. When you die, you’re gone. That’s it. People are so overly brainwashed with all that balogne.

Admit it! We are ALL gay! now take the penis, and insert it into your mouth…..it can’t be your own penis though.

@stuckpig, I know you think you’re cool calling jesus freaks brainwashed idiots but honestly, you’re just as bad as they are imposing your views too.

for the record, i’m not a jesus freak. i just find it hypocritical when other people impose their views on others. even though the jesus squad looks for it. still, the rest of us don’t have to sink to their level. lets just not pay attention. as long as you’re not hurting anyone and live in peace, it’s all good.

@Noble, I hope you’re either joking or 11 years old – those are the only two acceptable backings for your response. @ballsofmetal – Yep, fact and reality should stop being imposed and we should turn history, math, and science into free form jazz and hackeysack classes because that’s not hurting anyone, right? If we didn’t have this Christianity bullshit this country would be a much better place with better people and more sane laws.

    • wow, most of you guys fucking suck. I won’t even go into detail, because there’s too many of you. ABR is great and I can’t wait for them to come around in Europe again and hear the new songs live. One of the best live bands and nicest dudes and I have seen more than 300 bands up until today.

I’m with balls. People’s faith is people’s faith. As long as your Jesus doesn’t shit on my lawn, go nuts. The problem is as soon as fundamentalism enters the equation – be it Christian, Muslim, or Nickelback – that’s when there’s a problem. And yes, the “Jesus sucks” people are just as bad, if not worse than the “Jesus rocks” people.
I’m always gonna spell it “Christmas”. “Xmas” just makes me think of a really lame X-Man that shoots decorations…

    • Seriously!? I was looking forward to watching the video once I was out of work, but that’s ’cause when I saw “Hot Topic,” I assumed it’d be chock-full of tongue-in-cheek stabs at the store. But looking over these comments, that’s apparently not the case.

As for the Jesus talk, keep in mind that the Jesus Sucks people wouldn’t exist were it not for the Jesus Rocks people. And contrary to what they try to teach you in grade school, “who started it” absolutely does matter. I’ll get off their backs once they stop trying to shove their fundamentals into my country’s laws (successfully, at that, all too often), vilifying entire groups of people so that they have to be scared out in public, and last but not least something they’re most all guilty of, indoctrinating the frail and suggestible minds of their own kin with concepts at an age when they can’t even yet begin to comprehend them, which is the only means by which their outdated beliefs are preserved in modern society. Anyone who thinks they believe what they do because of their own honest volition, rather than because their parents and culture brainwashed them to, is absolutely kidding themselves. As for that small minority of religious folk that actually don’t cling to the same one they just so happened to be raised on: I have no idea what the hell’s going on in their heads.

In this thread: Sweeping generalizations of entire demographics based on personal opinions and experience. (Far, far removed from the subject matter of the original post).
