This is the worst fucking thing I have ever heard. What is Brandon’s infatuation with flaunting his 125 pound vegan frame? Are these guys heading up Burning Man this year? I second the above, I’ll just go listen to science and cry while fantasizing about the days this band was the numetal version of sublime. Ugh.

    • jesus guys, this song isn’t awful. Sure, this band hasn’t been the same since S.C.I.E.N.C.E., but they haven’t turned truly bad. They’re still acceptable… just not fantastic.

    • There are a few pleasant tracks on this record, but as a whole like rreddrop mentioned, it’s gotten bland. Sure, people grow, mature, a band will evolve their sound, but Incubus seems to be just going through the motions. Where’s the passion? Like a lot of fans, I’m probably just living in the bands past. I’m just thankful the Deftones haven’t gotten like this.

yeah this is fucking BAT SHIT bloddy dicks disgusting. I’ve always loved incubus (I even have an incubus tattoo :) ) but i might get it removed now. this is like when silverchair was amazing with frogstomp and 15 years later they put out modern contemporary or whatever the fuck it was. NOT SO GOOD!

I’m sorry Afghanistam, I actually laughed out loud when I read you have an Incubus tattoo. I’ll agree Incubus used to be pretty rad, but having anything on your body related to a group that can put out a song like “Promises, Promises”, is pretty emasculating.

@Kent +1 on the Tour. The In Flames album has grown on me, but that’s more based on accepting who they are now instead of trying to compare it their glory days. The Dredg album is flat, and neither Adolescents nor Promises, Promises have done much for me. Both songs are OK, but that’s it. What gets me about Incubus is that they didn’t really sell out, but they’ve strayed a good bit from their original sound, and most fans don’t seem to like it. So they’re not really making the radio happy, nor are they making the fans happy. What gives?

I’m not bothering with the video, the whole album is fucking terrible. Sounds like rejects from Boyd’s solo album. I’m still seeing them live this summer, but fuck me is this album god awful.

“Over the years, we’ve become less and less aggressive as far as our music goes. There’s always moments of that aggression, but this album is pretty free of that. It’s definitely not a hard rock record. I think we’re asking a lot of our fans. We’re asking them to listen for things that they normally wouldn’t listen for. We’re not leaning on the strengths of our last records either. It’s that much different than our previous work. I think we took a risk by making this type of album. But it’s not some crazy, experimental album. It’s a very straightforward concise album. And it’s a lot more focused than anything else we’ve ever done. So naturally I think this might disappoint some people, because there’s a pretty obvious lack of heavy rock music on this album.” – Mike Einziger

Incubus always made changes that irked me, and eventually I stopped caring.
SCIENCE was pretty cool (hasn’t aged well IMO), make yourself was okay, then they catered to people that like 311 and hoobastank, and now this (lol). Brandon Boyd’s voice just doesn’t work for what they’re trying to do.

Come back Dirk Lance, you are greatly missed. Tho, i can sort of listen and enjoy this new material if i try not to think about the fact that it’s Incubus,or that i may never, ever get to hear Psychopsilocybin live. IMO i’d still rate this higher then dredg’s, tho i can’t seem to put a finger on why.

i remember listening to these guys cause an ex girlfriend would play there record over and over and i thought they were pretty good for the most part but this song just depresses the hell out of me…..it reminds me of how finger eleven just up and one day shit out paralyzer and that was how they were gonna sound from now on

……………… Paralyzer is a good song. I hated it at first, but it grew on me quite a bit. Every Incubus up until (and including) Light Grenades had a majority of good tracks.

i do like paralyzer, i just seen um a month ago it was an alright concert dude played acostic at my car (bones & joints) their last cd life turns electric is god aweful, stone soul is one of the worst songs ever.
as to dredgs new cd, its cute how they used to follow korn into numetal now korns following them into dubstop electric crap, they should tour together

r we in the NU-Dub era? maybe yikes!

and now we get to hear incubus at the dentist office sweet, it sounds like maroon 5 with out the high voice and a beat or hook,

The new album is pretty boring. It’s depressing and shitty compared to SCIENCE and It’s not even catchy enough to be a decent mainstream pop or adult contemporary record. There’s a difference between maturing as musicians and just getting old. They just got old, and pretty much senile up to the point where they would make shit music and consider it as some atmospheric masterpiece.

I’d agree that while I fell in love with Incubus upon hearing S.C.I.E.N.C.E, that It was really Make Yourself that was the pinnacle of their artistic acheivments. Yes they have written good songs since, but MY as a whole is a consistent, thoughtful, experimental rock album with loads of catchy hooks to bring you in and is still the best front to back listen in their catalog. They were able to rise above the trappings of NuMetal and after that just became more and more stagnant as they tried to rewrite material as good as MY. In my opinion, this band blew their load (prematurely) a long time ago.

How come Incubus names all of their singles after other hit/popular songs?

      You made me promises, promises
      Knowing I’d believe
      Promises, promises
      You knew you’d never keep

    • lol you guys are ridiculous. Morning View was a decent record and in no way a repeat of Make Yourself. A Crow Left of the Murder was also quite different from anything they’d done in the past. Light Grenades wasn’t a huge departure but this is also pretty different. Love or hate their music, you really can’t accuse them of repeating themselves and recycling stuff.

Haha. Adult contemporary. Good call JR! Like everyone else I do miss SCIENCE and Make Yourself when they were a fun band. Don’t know who’s gonna like this crap.

    • The band looks like extras from Boogie Nights in this video. I enjoy a few songs on this album, but it is very bland, A Crow Left of The Murder was the last really good album they’ve done. This foray into easy-listening isn’t going to get any of their old fans back, that’s for sure

    • I hope that disgruntled DJ tracks these guys down and beats the whole band to death. It really seems like he would like that if he knew he could get away with it. Niggas got rich and he got shafted. Or maybe he’s just really, really pissed that his name will go down in history with only one degree of separation from this record.
