Rick Rubin Comments On New Linkin Park Album Progress

Linkin Park have been writing new material when not playing shows as of late. Speaking on that producer Rick Rubin, who appears to be have been tapped to helm the release, told Billboard.com the following:

“Typically we’ll have a once-a-week meeting to go listen to the songs that they’re coming up with and talk about them. For so early in the project, they are much further along than they have been on the last two albums we did. On (‘A Thousand Suns‘) there were still a lot of irons in the fire. We knew, ‘OK, we can’t do this forever. Let’s leave this batch and we’ll come back and address it when we start up again.’”

BIG mistake working with Rick Rubin, who has successfully removed everything that made Linkin Park worth listening to in the first place. You are a rap rock pop band, not fucking The Clash, U2 or Public Enemy. The last two albums were unlistenable, and with Rubin on board again, this one will be too.

I agree with all of you so far but. somehow they still go platinum and play stadiums all over the world. From a monetary standpoint, they have no reason to ever get rid of Rubin. From an artistic standpoint, they certainly do. However, artistic has never been this band’s strong point. Or at least not for several years. I want to be the fan of them that I used be but, I just can’t.

I’m with you rageagainst123. How anyone could like any era of this band is beyond me. Hell, I liked a lot of numetal back in the day and the moment I heard that “shut up when I’m talking to you” song, I immediately labeled it as shit even though their style of music was right up my alley at the time. Please Rubin, fuck this album up and finish this band off.
