Although I’m not very big on Slipknot nowadays, it must’ve been pretty cool to hear those first three songs back to back as the opener.

God damn that brings back memories. I had the privilege of seeing them live while they were still touring in their s/t album. Such an amazing show. I love the old masks/jumpsuits in memory of Paul.

rapping? whats wrong with that? the first nu-metal artist to do it right. and the screams where some of the best ive heard, as far as iowa it was a sign of their downfall i mean suriously if ur 555 then i am 666? what kind of lyrics is that crap? i just thought it was way too forced in terms of the hooks. the first cd has a passion that is rarly seen, pure hate and pure force. the lyrics just seemed true fuck u and i mean it, the second just seemed like it was riding the coattails of the first cd. but hey we all dig different shit, i blast canned heat in my car in the morning then between the buried and me at night lol

    • i totally agree that the self titled album is a classic that re-shaped the metal landscape, but to say they never released anything good after that is a bit of a stretch. as has been said, all their later albums have has some really great tracks. but i will agree none of their work since the s/t has succeeded in capturing the magic of that album.

even though i’m not really in to slipknot at all anymore, i gotta admit these videos bring me back to the good ol’ days. and i gotta say, they still put on a hell of a show. i’ve seen them seven times, and i’ll still see them every time they come to my town. few bands put as much energy into their performances and give as much love an appreciation to their audience. i’ve never felt a band appreciated my money and time as much as slipknot. the last time i saw them, joey played the whole hour and a half set with a broken ankle. he left the stage at the end of the set in absolute agony, but still jumped on a guitar tech’s back and came back out to throw out some sticks and thank the crowd. he already put on a hell of a shot in horrible pain. he didn’t owe us anything, but he still wanted to show his appreciation. i’ll never forget that.

    • Glad to see there’s still some love for Slipknot. Way too many people get hung up on the whole masks, being nine of ‘em, trying too hard in general, etc., etc. and fail to see the good in the band. Corey and Joey especially deserve way more credit than what people who just laugh the band off give them. And even though their sound was at times abysmal whenever I saw them live, they still always managed to put on fun and eventful show full of non-stop energy.

I agree with the people saying the s/t was tops, but also with those saying there’s still some good tracks among the newer stuff. Though I think Iowa was pretty solid as well, and only really discount it for beginning the trend into the newer sound. But of the newer stuff, I find myself likely their more mellow stuff the best, tracks like Vermillion pt. 2 and Snuff.
