Sounds like Fantomas. Not a bad thing when that nice arty-nothing-really-has-to-make-any-sense type of mood strikes. Still, as always, hoping for the impossible and one more FNM record.

I like “arty” as much as the next Mars Volta fan but this is crap. if he had not been FNM’s singer no one would give a fuck. the cool thing about Mike though is that he would probably still be making this kind of weird shit.
A new FNM album would be awesome. A new Mr. Bungle would be amazing. I doubt that no one would know him if not for FNM though.
Will, I have to disagree. I love this. His improve work with John Zorn is especially awesome. Yes, MOST people wouldn’t know who Mike Patton is. Unfortunately, 90% of those people only know the song Epic.
Of course, I’m biased since I own everything he’s ever been on.
damn American_Natemare. you own all the omar … lopez stuff and all the patton stuff. that is a fortune in those albums alone (both release one about every 12 seconds). however, because you said it and I respect Patton (and your opinion) I will give more of his oddness a second chance.
ps. even the rap albums he has done with those artists?

Will, I highly suggest the Maldoror album. It’s a collaboration with Mike and Merzbow. And yes, even the hip hop stuff is good. I think some of his best work is when he gets to do ‘pop songs.’

I saw Tomahawk like 5 times, one time they headlined the other 4 was when I followed Tool on the east coast. The first two albums were awesome “Anonymous” not so much.
