The Black Dahlia Murder Premiere New Single “Moonlight Equilibrium”
The Black Dahlia Murder have launched their new track “Moonlight Equilibrium” online over at Metalblade.com (also available below.) The artwork for the bands new album “Ritual“, which is scheduled to arrive in stores on June 21st through Metal Blade, can be seen at the aforementioned link as well.
In the meantime, band frontman Trevor Strnad further commented on “Ritual” with the following:
“This is the first time we have fully realized a concept for an album. We wanted to choose something that would exemplify the very essence of the band… something that would be ‘more TBDM’ than anything we have released to this point. All of the lyrics to Ritual are bound by a common thread of black magick and the occult, the worship of darkness, and the preservation of inner strength and will.”
When we play a show, it’s like a ritual… a group catharsis. We are unified with our fans through the platform of live performance. There is a real magic there. Like the album cover represents, there are two halves required; us and you. Yes, we are an evil band. Yes we sing about Satan. But really, how I see it, our evil is for your own good!
The character Satan in our music represents the freedom to think for yourself… the strength to see through the facades of the norm that is presented to us at birth, and the courage to live your own way, free of the burden of guilt and shame. That’s how it’s always been for us and this record is no different.
I think Ritual is us fully realizing our responsibility to our fans to be the best (and most horrific) The Black Dahlia Murder we can while we’re here. In a way, you could say we have come to terms, more now so than ever, with how religious the fans are about this band… hence the album’s name.
This is absolutely our best record and the new benchmark that we are soon to be measured by… I have no problem saying that. There has been no prouder moment for me in this band than the Ritual we offer before you. We worked harder on this and for longer than we ever have on any release until this point. Our blood is in the ink of this album, our souls in every note.
That being said, if you were to steal this record, it would literally break my fat fucking heart. I know that times are tough, hell, it’s legitimately getting harder and harder to physically get these albums into your hands. I fully realize that. Every metal band (and fan) has fallen victim to these hard times. We are here to help get the music to you, no matter where you are or how scarce extreme metal may be there.
It’s time to stand up and circumvent the obstacles that threaten to befall metal… just because these assholes have made it harder to find doesn’t mean we should just pull the plug, puss out and stop supporting it. Just because we can’t walk down the street to SuperMegastore anymore and buy a Cannibal Corpse CD we’ve turned to stealing it all from the internet. Weak! One of the awesome powers of the internet is that it can allow these kick ass preorder packages to be available to the fans.
That’s why we went to such extreme lengths to bring such a lush packaging to the masses… one last attempt at trying to lure you to go against the grain and actually invest your hard earned money in the CD. If you really want to have an impact on the fate of this band, that is the truest and clearest way that I can tell you how to do so. We need your support.
It’s not for our pocketbooks, it’s so we can exist in this cut-throat music business. I’m not encouraging you to just buy this album, either. This is bigger than that. I am encouraging you to support all metal bands that you like and buy their albums… we need you now more than ever.”

BTW: It’s great that they announced the album after it was completely recorded and everything. I can’t hear all that bullshit anymore when bands announce an album 2 years before a single note is written. This here is how it should be done. Record an album, announce a release date not too far in the future and one day later stream the first song.
No studio reports nobody gives a fuck about anyway, no 2-second teasers, absolutely no bullshit.

I won’t be stealing, let alone buying this album, but the guy makes a good point (that’s been made over and over already, but still, it’s true). There’s a special place in Hell for downloaders who don’t pay for any of the music they listen to = tied to a chair for eternity in a room listening to a mix-tape blaring Alter Bridge, Nickelback, Creed, Theory of a Deadman, Default, Seether, and Saliva. Blech.
Well I’ll be seeing them in july. My way of supporting them will be buying a couple of t-shirts.

Really liked their first album and never was a massive fan after that, awesome song though, sounds like they are taking a more death metal approach then their usual grind. Apex is still my favourite song fo sho, Unhallowed > Everything
Seems like Black Dahlia fans are one way or the other…I constantly spin all of their albums except for Unhallowed. I think it’s pretty clear that everything they’ve done is only progressively getting better.
Vautour is on point! That to me sounds like a better approach to letting the world know about the album.
What’s wrong with Default? This is the best song I’ve heard by these guys. Damn, didn’t realize their drummer is the former All That Remains drummer from The Fall of Ideals – respect.

Any metal fan that doesn’t “Buy it if you like it” after downloading (or going to shows, buying merch) is just fucked. We sustained metal through grunge and we should do it now.

Perry Farrell broke to us at the Jane’s Addiction concert tonight, wasn’t sure if he was fucking around because he likes to tell little stories that lead into the songs and literally 30 seconds after he said it I got a text from a friend. Don’t get to excited. Nobody saw his body, and now its been “buried at sea”. Yeah, that makes sense. Bin Laden died in 2002 when he had his original kidney failure. It was reported on a bunch of news stations, except all the North American stations, and the BBC. Hmmm… weird. Ohhhhhh is that the engine of a new election campaign is hear revving up? Why yes it is, and who better to use for a puppet, then the worlds most villainous man.

I tend to lean towards Relenless_Beating’s opinion of the Bin Laden situation. I thought Bin Laden died of kidney failure in 02. This could be an absolutely brilliant strategy orchestrated by Obama to gain support for the upcoming elections. The birth certificate shuts up Trump, and now this gem has been dropped. Very convenient timing. Obama has always taken a beating for not decreasing the number of troops in the middle east as he promised during his campaign. I have no doubts that this event has already done wonders for his approval rating.

On the other hand, if Bin Laden was hiding in a large protected compound in Pakistan, I suppose it wouldn’t be unreasonable to believe that he had the support of many Pakistani officials who would have been more than willing to provide him with kidney treatment years ago. Think about it, the guy was thought to have fled Afghanistan for Pakistan damn near a decade ago. If we did just kill him as the media is reporting, Bin Laden was protected for a long time.

Who the fuck knows really? I know I don’t. All I know for sure is that the US armed and trained Bin Laden to fight the Soviets. We did the same thing with Hussein to fight Iran.
